How can you tell if a mare is preggo? She came into heat on July 17, I put her in the the stud on July 19 and she is lifting her tail around him but rejecting him. I want to know when I can get her checked and if this maybe sounds like a sign of pregnancy. Any suggestions? (this is my first mare to be bred, we had geldings before)
You can do an ultrasound about 14 days after ovulation. You will have to call your vet out or take her in. We usually rate our mares with a teasing system. When they are raising tail, winking, and urinating we let the stallion breed her. We do this every other day until she is no longer accepting of the stud, then in 14 days we take her to the vet and ultrasound her to see if she is pregnant. Hope that helps some. Kassie
