Donna,
Hug that colt while you can! It just seemed like yesterday that I could squeeze my colt around the neck......now, I'd get a concussion. Not that it stops me...I'm just careful :-).

Kathee - Opps, I spoke to you on the old thread - teach me to look properly first in future. Chu Kash is a babe huh - my dad was just looking over my shoulder, he said ' thats not a foal-its a proper horse surely?' Hehe, he has got big! And hes beautiful..I was sure he was chestnut in the last pictures, did he change coats or was he always bay?

Donna - he is a real cutie. You will have to show us a comparison of him in a few weeks time (even a few days.) He really is lovely - and dont forget to tell us when and what you name him : )

Kim- he is a bay, always a bay just he is coming in darker almost a black bay. Tell your dad he is a foal and only 11 weeks I'll be needing a step ladder as well as Heather with our boys!I grow everything SUPER SIZE here!

Kathee I guess we started something !! Next is a pony saddle for him! But by then he will be able to handle a full saddle by the size of him!

Hi all,
I don't have any new pics today (not in the pic taking mood :-( ).
Buddy & Grace went to the University today...Buddy is scheduled for surgery tomorrow. He was SOOOO good...just hopped in the trailer. Great for all the doctors and interns when we got there. They all ooohhh'ed and aaahhh'd over him, remarking at how handsome and well behaved he was :-). I was so proud. What a good little man he is.
Get THIS though! They weighed him on the walk-on scale, and he's 469 lbs. You could have knocked me over. He's tall, but doesn't have a bulky appearance to him at all...I never would have guessed him to weigh that much.
They did all the pre-op x-rays and bloodwork this afternoon...everything looks great. They will do his check-ligament surgery tomorrow.
Think good thoughts for my Buddy. All should go well, as he is in good hands...but it's hard not to worry.
I'll let you know how things are after I hear from the surgeon tomorrow afternoon.

Hey lindsey, my mare was very protective too at first, she soon gave in after about 5-6 days. Today I was trying to lead baby figuring that mum would just follow around (Im on my own there so I thought if I could get away with just leading one it would be easier and my mare doesnt tie!!) Well...I figured wrong, mum went to get some grass and baby followed instead! Whoops, she may have just learned her strength, and only 7 days old! There one lesson I have to unlearn now!! Give her a bit of time and Im sure you will be able to get in there too. Good luck - keep us updated : )

Lindsey~ He is just darling and so big! I can't wait! I am so excited that the foaling is finally happening with so many! Makes something to look forward to since my mare is such a pain! {hehe} Lindsey, forgive me for being confused...my brain is boggled these days, but mom is not the Mustang, right? That was your husbands horse that he got rid of or am I just way out in left field? Anyway, what kind of horse is the mom? You have quite a beautiful baby now and a lot to be proud of! I'm sure the wait was worth it. Congrats!

Lindsey - protective mares can be a pain and also dangerous, but it is important to get your hands on little man before too long. Can you tie her with out her flipping out? I don't know your set up but the stall looks large enough. Maybe a small round pen or paddock? What ever you do, keep yourself safe. I don't know how agressive she is being towards you or if she just keeps herding baby away. Just some ideas.

Lindsey - P.S. My mare let us handle the baby immediately, but she would not let Catcher more than 6 feet from her the first day. Within 2 weeks she was completely over that and Catcher would lay down near Mom only to wake up with her on the other side of the pasture!

Hi all,
Buddy had surgery and is doing great. The surgeon called me when he was up and back in the stall with his momma.
While he was in surgery, Grace was re-ultrasounded and confirmed 8 weeks in foal (yea!). She wasn't too happy about having to fork over Buddy so they had to sedate her to keep her happy...better living through chemistry.
They are both doing well and are expected to come home Sat. afternoon.
To all, thank you for all your thoughts and prayers!

Lindsey,
Ouch!!! Have you measured how tall your foal is???! What a pretty baby, and so filled out and tall. Congrats to you!

Heather,
im glad for you and buddy, we did measure the baby he is around nine hands or so he wouldnt stand very still he just wanted to bounce. I did the thing were you measure from the middle of the knee to the coronet band and how ever many inches it is, is the aprox hight they will be and he may mature around 16 hands.

Well - Ive made it through the first week and we have had little to write home about. I taught her yesterday that she is quite capable of pulling me off my feet to run away when shes being led...not sure that the lesson I set out to teach!! Better try that one again : )

But she comes over to me when I clap now:
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c172/clafairy/Crimson%20Scenario%20RIO/One%20w eek%20Today/P1010051.jpg

She is certainly bouncy and fast, I got a great photo of one of her leaps: well I thought so but shes mine so....
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c172/clafairy/Crimson%20Scenario%20RIO/One%20w eek%20Today/DVC00117.jpg

I cant catch either of them because as soon as mum sees the lead rope coming out shes off and baby just keeps up! I dont want to teach it to run away from me everytime I come to get them but I do have to get them in at night... And her legs take her away fast!
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c172/clafairy/Crimson%20Scenario%20RIO/One%20w eek%20Today/DVC00119.jpg

But butter would melt though huh? How can you be angry at them at all! : )

Kim - she looks wonderful! She has the sweetest expression. I'm no help with the catching problem...I would just take a carrot out and catch Mom, which I am sure is not a good solution! I am sure though that if you keep playing with her like you are, she will just come right up to you in the pasture when she sees you. That is what Catcher does now. I guess they need to get a little independent first. My girl still has her own idea of how far away from Mom she will voluntarily move, but she is up to about 150 feet now.

Heather-So glad to hear all your good news! Always starts the day out on a positive note. Congrats on the confirmed pregnancy and Buddy's successful procedure, and good wishes for a speed recovery for him.

Kim-Thanks for sharing the pics of your little Rio. She is darling. As far as catching them. When I would go to put mom and baby out, my mare would come and stand nicely for her halter I would then tie her up right at the exit and squat down till Jr. would come up to me and then slip his halter on, no fight no fuss just slip it on so that he would associate halter with going somewhere and then just lead mom out squat down again till he would come over and slip off his halter first then moms. After a day of turn out the sight of "blue" goodie bucket always brings my mare in, not giving her the goodies quite yet I would slip on her halter and wait for baby to come up and slip his on and once we are back into the stall "blue" bucket rewards. Worked like a charm didn't take long for him to be the one when he saw the halter to stampede to the exit gate to get haltered up either going out or in. Good luck!

Thanks Jan thats great, thznks!! Mum is the one that is being awkward (as usuall!) and I have been just getting her into the stable for her dinner, mistake being I should have stopped her and put her halter on before she got the dinner as you say....

Well, I would like to post a couple pics of my babies, and then I also have a question..

My colt is 1 week old today, I have yet to see him drop his you know what when he pees.. is that something I need to worry about, or will he eventually get the idea and figure it out..???

first ones are of my month old filly..

thanks heather, raven!! : ) She sure does look big today(its nice to have seen picturesof yours getting bigger and bigger, and in your case raven AND BIGGER!)...She is still suffering from the odd dodgy belly so I have had to wash her bum and legs and vasaline her up but she doesnt mind too much, its all learning hey... She got to play with the scary wheel barrow today and soon Id like to introduce all sort of other baddies but I have to be careful with mum - Kinda waiting for them to be a bit more independant of each other!

Glad to hear buddy is doing well...Hey - he wont be looking for a girlfriend in a few years that he can sow his seed with will he ? Ahhh, poor Rio only just arrived in the world and here I am planning her torture for the next 4 years!!

WOW!! Sandy that filly is stunning, absolutely stunning. She is sooo feminine looking - I bet she a real mover is she? Congratulations to you. She has the exact face marking I was hoping to have on my bay filly, She managed not to have anything though... Never mind we cant have it all - I got everything else I wanted..!

I have never seen a marking like the one your colt has, he takes quite a picture too doesnt he... Well done to you : )

Here is Huey at just over 3 weeks old! Am really enjoying him but he is definately a boy - in to everything, escaped through the electric fence on Saturday too!!

Conformation wise hes looking much better, front legs are much straighter and hes got a fat ass, only worry is he looks a big straight in the hock..??

Ahh, I just love foal pictures!!

Kim...I put in an order with Grace for a pretty bay filly like your. Let's see if it pans out...since she's already 2+ months along, I'm not too sure my request will have any impact.

So far, Buddy hasn't figured out that he has testicles. He's a big dog. As long as he keeps the great personality and is polite...then he gets to keep 'em.
I expect he will be fine, as it's just how he is. To be honest, I hadn't bargined on getting a possible stud prospect...but if he proves to be worthy of staying intact???
No intentions of gelding him as of now, but time will tell. Even I tend to geld first and ask questions later...so I told him he better behave and grow a 3rd eye in the back of his head :-) .

Hey Guys,
I have been a lurker on this board for a couple of months. I have learned soooo much from you. Sunday I was at the barn on mare stare and Chelli started delivery. Thanks to you guys I knew what to do and didn't panic too much!!! Here are some shameless brag pictures of the new filly. She was bred with my s-inlaw's thoroughbred and a warmblood. We are trying to get a show jumper for my 9 year old daughter. The filly's name is Isabelle and she came right on her due date. The whole story later. It is quite amazing. Thanks again,
Karen

Oh, and one more thing. Everyone here is so knowlegeable about colors and markings etc. What color do you think Isabelle will be when she is older. You see pics of mom and dad is a dark bay. Do you think she will lighten or darken? Either way, we think she is just perfect. We are just curious.

Thanks again,
Karen

She is breathtaking! What wonderful pictures. Isabelle does indeed appear to be a lovely shade of bay.
I am assuming that's the future horsewoman in the picture? Reminds me of "international velvet"....silly, but I'm a sucker for a good horse story :-).
Congrats to you and your daughter! Post more pics soon.

Momma is an Irish DraughtxTB, Daddy is TBxPolish Arab. So i guess that makes him IDxTBxArab! Bit of a mix i know, but im hoping he will make a fantastic eventer/showjumper. He and mum should be back home from stud at the weekend, i cant wait, altho this is my first foal, so im terrified too!

Hi hannah! Hes something isnt he. Bet your proud - thats a good combination for a nnice sports horse, should be sturdee, fast, intelligent, fairly hardy... It is terrifying for the first few days - but mine is three weeks now and I love it to bits! Everything is starting to fall into place a bit better- its not as easy as the books make it look but its certainly as rewarding when something pays off - I hope you really enjoy him - its a great experience.

This is my little filly at three weeks today : ) Cant resist posting when I take new piccies and I like to see how everyone elses little ones change. Farrier came today and was dead pleased with her - said she had a lovely short back, nice hight good legs... Im so chuffed, this was my first go!!

Kim, gorgeous head!!! I love a good head... (And that quarter horse butt!) Those are my two favorite things on a horse.
I don't have any new pictures yet. I'm waiting on some to be developed from my other camera, but I'll take a TON Saturday.
You guys all have such pretty babies! Mine's a weird grey color. I know she's got to have dun in her... has stripes on her ears and legs and the stripe down her back, but she's a little appaloosa. Weird. She's fun though.

Ok just measured my chap this morning and we are easily looking at 45" at the wither and 46/47" on his big Jo-Lo ass!! Mum is 15.1 (just) and Dad is 15.3 - is he big for his age?? (38 days old today)

Have some new pics from this morning, wonderful weather and Mummy is getting her figure back!! (she's so vain!!) and I cant help it but she has the most wonderful big eyes and is so pretty!! (I do hope he inherits her good looks!)

Also can anyone help say what colour his legs are going to be?? would have expected them to be going darker but they seem to be getting lighter - the rest of him is a definate bay

Hey, Thanx 4 all of your encouraging comments. Both mum and baby home now, he is soooooooooooo naughty, wen we went to collect them, mum was taken out of stable and towards the trailer, and he did a runner (and he is only 5 days old), so of course we had an angry mother who was desperate fo find her baby, then a panicky foal that soon realised he was by himself! We had our vet check him over yesterday, as his front legs are slightly wonky, and he said that he has the mental attitude of a 2-3 month old, not something that is less than a week old. We are now trying to teach him to lead, so that we have the discipline in place before he grows to be to big to man handle. He does get angry tho. I think his bits are going to have to come off A.S.A.P! Oh by the way, decided name for him is GRIFFIN.
Everybody keep us posted wiv new pics, its so nice to see other foals developing.
Thanks, Hannah

Wow..I haven't checked in for awhile. Beautiful foals!
Here are two of mine.
The first was born Apr. 24th... this is a pic of him at 3 weeks old. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y67/sheshai/Dbl3wksrightsm.jpg

The next one was just born on June 6th. This is a pic of him at 2 days old. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y67/sheshai/2daysoutsidesm.jpg

They are both Appaloosas... two different sires.

I also had a miniature colt born on Apr. 25th, but I don't have a decent pic of him yet. He is a palomino pinto with blue eyes... absolutely gorgeous.

Hannah, I do believe she is gonna gray out like her mother, Her legs have a lot of gray already. My husband is so hoping she stays like she is now, but I told him she will probably turn like her mom, The dad is sorrel.. I am very proud of her, it's like having the best gift from God right in my own fence!!!!

Melissa - they look great!

Here is an update of Catcher. She has really changed colors where she has shedded. There is still some baby fuzz in the mid section and a little on the hind end. Her head, chest and shoulders are nearly done. I am looking forward to that jet black color I was promised! They say it will be next year.

Now - http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d106/katheekj/Dream%20Catcher/Catcher11weeks.j pg

At 4 weeks for comparison - http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d106/katheekj/Dream%20Catcher/4weekslayingdown .jpg

Kathee-
with your mare being a buckskin (real lightif i remember correctly)she carries the cream gene, she may have passed that onto the foa, therefore your black may never be a true black, it may be black with cream which will appear dark bay in areas and black in others...will be interesting to see! she is very nice looking, how old is she now?

Kathee,
Catcher is growing fast,he looks great. Are you going to keep him? I am enjoying my foals as well. Time goes by fast. Thank you all for the nice comments on my foals. How many hands do you think Catcher will be?Catcher is going to be one fine stud colt. All of the foals from this year are going to be some great looking foals. The foals from this year are going to be great at whatever we do with them.

Melissa -thanks for the comments. She is actually a girl...just has a boy name! We are definately going to keep her.

Kris - I have a sneaking suspicion myself that the cream factor may be in play. I hope she sheds out darker next year. She has a jet black spot above her hoof so I am holding on to hope. How is your baby doing?

Kathee-
Catcher is beautiful whether black or baywith catcher i would imagine the cream will stop her from being black!! as far as black above the hoof, well that would be equivelant to black "socks: like the bays buckskins, duns have...like jericho, he is buckskin, but his legs are (or will be) black...so she will probably look real dark bay even though she probably is a black!!!(with cream...should make for interesting breeding when she gets older!!!)
Jericho is doing well...well...was until yesterday...I looked out to see him limping around, went out with farrier tools (i went to school) to find that overnight he has busted his hoof wall off on the heel and quarters, and upon further inspection found he possibly has an absessed sole!!!!!!!!!!!! GRRRRR!it is so dry here and the bugs are worse than i ever remember!!!
vet comes out monday, so until then I am TRYING to soak it...(haha he will not keep his foot in the water...showing his naughty side with water, but does fine while i dig around his hoof) and putiing furazone and epsom salt and wrapping it with duct tape to protect the exposed soft tissue!!! but other that that he is growing like a weed! is in a weanling halter now...smallest notch, but fits great!! in the last week and a half (has not been haltered for that long)he has grown out of the suckling halter 3 notches plus the end doesnt even meet the buckle!!!
I COULDNT BELIEVE IT!!!
I am thinking weaning is just around the corner... although it will have to wait until after July 27th as I will be in Germany for almost 3 weeks and do not want to wean while i am gone. will be to difficult for hubby and kids to deal with.
other than the water issue he is a keeper...very sweet, smart and fun! He loves to harass his big sis, he stays with her most of the day.

Wow! You have your share of "stuff" that happens! I am glad to hear he is growing so well. Germany! Good for you. I hope you have a great time.

We are really dry here, also. The dust just kicks up behind the horses when they walk. I would have lost my pasture if I weren't diligently watering (thank goodness for the well), but even with that, I can't stay ahead of the intense mid-day heat.

Well guys my mare Cricket had herself a little filly born last wednesday at 8:30 in the morning. I don't have a computer at home and can't download pix from my digital camera onto the one here at work, so all I've have is the pictures I took with my cell phone. They're not the best, but I guess they'll have to do for now.

Here she is just after birth getting to know mom . . .

Here is some pictures of my colt Riley he is about 2.5 months old. These are from a week or so ago. He has changed a lot and you can kind of see his color changin on his leg in one picture. He is a about 11.2 or so and is growing really fast. I will try to get more recent pictures on the comp. and download them but here are some!

Thank you Kathee. She's wonderful! She's 9 days old today and I can do just about anything with her. She'll stand quietly and let me groom her all over, pick up all her feet and clean them out, back up (with chest pressure) swing her hindquaters away from me (again with pressure) let me lead her all around (with mom in tow, or at least close by). She's even eating her own rations of grain now! She's a truly amazing little filly. She's still a little touchy about her ears, but the rest of her body you can touch all over without any problems at all.

Yea I don't know what that's all about...it seems like I spend at least 30 minutes every day touching her ears. I've even run an electric toothbrush all over her muzzle and legs and neck etc. with no problem...but heaven forbid I touch her ears with it! (I know that sounds weird, but I just didn't trust using real clippers even if I didn't really clip her...it still seemed a little dangerous to me, so I figured the tooth brush still is loud and vibrating, but perfectly harmless) I'll just keep working with her, and I know one day we'll get there. I've thrown towels and blankets all over her, wrapped a lead shank around her like a girth and tugged on it and see-sawed it back and forth, sprayed her with warm water...nothing seems to faze her (except those dang ears!)

What else have you done with Catcher? (I love that name by the way...my business is named Dreamcatcher Equines and this is our first baby so that's why we named her Dreamweaver) I still need to try shaking plastic bags and stuff all around her, but unfortunatly her mom is a little spooky so I'm a bit hesitant about that . . .

Our mare is really spooky with the plastic bags, also. I would ball up a plastic grocery bag in my palm and take Catcher to the other side of the stall or as far away as she was comfortable in the pasture and just crinkle it enough for us to hear without Mom hearing it. She is fine with it and Mom still freaks out.
Your imprinting sounds a lot like mine. I did all of the traditional horse stuff and just whatever else came to mind. I will balance brushes or small buckets on her back, (gently)grab the back of her back leg when I walk by, lift he feet and tap on them with a hoof pick, just whatever comes to mind. Her only vice now is her very active mouth! I have to keep it entertained with something when I am brushing her or just standing near her. I have an old rope I usually let her chew on. If I am in the pasture, I just grap a stick and let her chew on that. She is so goofy.

What do you call your foal? We had to drop the Dream part because that is what we call Momma. Her real name is Sweet Dreams. Dreamweaver was one of our choices also...a flashback to the song from my youth. She was almost Daydream, but I would have had to call her Day and I liked Catcher better. Dream Catcher represents such a pleasant concept of sorting out good from bad and sending the bad away. We were hooked on it.

We call her Skittle. It's a nickname I used to have, and it just seemed like a cute barn name. I too love the whole dreamcatcher idea. In fact I actually have one hanging next to my bed!

Skittle has been okay with her mouth so far, but she's still very young so she could get worse. The only times she's really tried to "nip" me are when I'm scratching her favorite spots and her natural reaction is to return the favor. Of course I don't want her to associate her moth on me AT ALL so I'll usually say no and flick her lightly on her nose (just enough to startle her) and then go back to scratching. She pretty much understands now that she's not allowed to touch me with her mouth and she'll either nip on herself, or her mom.

How old was Catcher before she really started showing an interest in solid foods? I've worked with foals in the past, but never had one of my own so this is still a huge learning experiance for me. I'm a little amazed that she started nibbling on grass at 2 days old, and at a week old would greedily attempt to eat grain (mom wouldn't share so I started giving her her own bucket yesterday, and ordered a creep feeder off the internet). Am I just being a "proud parent" thinking this is advanced, or is it truly an early development. I've looked all around on websites and all but they usually give a very vauge timeline.

I cannot believe how quickly everyone is growing up! This year has certainly produced some gorgeous foals. Everyone has every reason to feel so proud! Catcher looks like he is getting very dark in deed. is the stallion Homozygous for Black? if he is, Catcher should be black even with the cream gene. What ever color he becomes he is just beautiful!!!!!! Riley is growing like a weed and so nice. Enjoy him, he is a hunk.
Kerri, Cricket gave birth to one leggy foal, should be a nice sport horse prospect, what a sweety.
Kris I sure home Jericho hoof heals soon...that dry weather can be so hard on those tender hooves! Have a great time in Germany and remember to have a designated driver after having dinner with all that BEER! giggle.
Melissa wow Amber is really filling in nice, she looks so much like my filly. but I see that your filly has light eyes and mine are very dark. she is built your little girl, good luck keeping that white clean I know I need all the luck I can get to keep my girl Checota (her new name) clean. Hubby could not pronounce her other name. She has shed out along her chest and neck and a little on the legs and flank area but not on her back or sides, she is coming in a rich mahogany bay like her mom. :-) Here she is after her first bath (she did very well)....of course she rolled right after the pictures were taken LOL she is now 13.5 weeks old and 12.2 hands high mom is 15.3 sire is 16.1 without further ado...here is Checota

Jan,
Your filly has grown alot as well. My filly don't stay clean very long. My daughter wants to show her next year, but I am afraid she will have a hard time keeping her clean with all that white. My filly Amber has one blue eye and one brown eye. Does your filly have a blue eye?Did you rebreed to Lucky straws for 2007? My mare Annie Amber's dam is breed to a palomino and white tobiano for 2007.We know it will be a paint, but wondering what color we will get from them. This is my mare's first time to be breed to a palomino and white stud. My mare has been breed to black/white tobiano, sorrel/white tobiano, bay/white tobiano, bay breeding stock(Amber's sire),I have not given Amber a full bath yet, but she loves to check OUT the water.
take care and keep sending those great pictures. I am surprise how much our foals favor each other, other then a few different. My filly tail is black with very little white on the end of it, while yours is white.
take care,
MELISSA

Melissa, Jade (checotas dam) was not rebred this year she has arthritis in her hock and I do not feel that it would be good to breed her ever again, she will be retired now and live out her days (she is only 7 years old now) on green pastures surrounded by friends and her daughter. Checota has two dark brown eyes. I am really worried right now, checota was kicked by Jack my gelding as he was trying to get out the gate first he turned around an nailed her on the front leg, she keeps it up alot and does not want to put too much weight on it. she walks but every third step she will leap forward on three legs, I do not feel that anything is broken, everything moves right but she may have a hairline fracture. I will keep you updated, I iced it down and wrapped it with an ice bandage, there is not so much pain as to keep her head out of the feed bucket once back in the stall. I will keep all advised, vet will be out first thing in the morning, take care and please put a prayer in for little checota. Thanks

Keep us posted about Checota. I hope checota is okay. My stud colt from last year had a accident at about 3 months old. My stud colt cut his back leg good, but we were able to doctor it up. My stud colt stay all night last year at the vet's office, plus he got all of shots and stuff. We had to wrap his leg everyday and doctor it(what fun). Foals are like 2 yrs old children always in something or gets hurts by something or some other horse. My filly Amber this years foal by annie hurt her front leg about a week ago. My filly Amber was running in the pasture then she couldn't walk. The vet said to give her pain med and stall her, so we did. Thank goodness she just pull something and is fine now.
We will pray for checota.
Take care,

Thanks for your concern, Vet has checked out Checota, she has a deep contussion on her front leg just below the knee, but xrays show no fracture and Ultrasound found no damage to soft tissue other then bruising so she will be ok other than some swelling and a bit of heat, she is starting to put weight on it and the vet thinks she will make a full recovery! Thank God!

My children and I were praying for checota. We are glad she is okay. Our prayers were answer. Keep us posted. I was told today that people think my filly Amber would be consider a tovero not a tobiano, because she has a blue eye. I am trying to find out so I can send in her paper work. Anyone that can help me let me know what you all think she is tobiano or tovero paint.

Melissa, on her APHA papers she will be listed as a Tobiano even if she is a Tovero (Tovero means she shows characteristics of both Overo and Tobiano) when it comes to registering your paint you will put down Tobiano. Hope that helps. Melissa thank you and your children for the prayers! They really helped.

Jan,
Thank you so much.
I think he's marvelous, but I'm so terribly biased :-) (aren't we all). He IS a big boy, at about 14 hands now...so, yes he will be big when all is said and done.
The best part is, that he is a puppy dog...the quietest horse in my barn...

Thats wonderful, will you keep him intact or geld him? He is a beauty, if I remember right his mother was 16 plus hands, how tall is his sire? What a sweet boy he is. My filly is also one of the calmest sweetest and easiest foal I have ever raised! She has been an absolute dream to work with! We are blessed!

Well, the deal I have with Buddy right now, is that he can keep his testicles as long as he continues to behave. Any reason that he gives me to believe he doesn't deserve them...whether that be temperment/conformation/movement/etc...and he will be gelded.
I do love him dearly and believe he could be an asset as a stallion..but there are no grandeur ideas about stallions. Keeping him intact will be a big commitment, so all remains to be seen.
Grace (the dam) is 16 hands. His sire is 17.1. He came by his size honestly :-). Let's just hope that he continues to grow w/out problem.
Don't know where you are located specifically Jan, but paint fillies like yours are high on the call list. She is a doll, and her color incredible.
I do love the babies!

Hi! my name is Beverly and i have seen a lot of beautiful babies. we have only had 4 this yr, but have been very lucky with all the color.

Here is our last foal of the year, born 3 weeks ago. Her name is Dancer. the wrong name is on the picture.

Heather - he looks great! That's not Momma next to him is it? I remember her being his color.

Beverly - she is a gorgeous girl!

Thanks for all the compliments on Buddy! He is "my kind" of horse too :-). Such a marshmellow.

Kathee...nope, that's not his momma in the background. That's his aunt Sunshine...my 29 yr. old mare. She's an oldie and got horrible navicular...but takes good care of Buddy. They go out togeather now that he is weaned. She is practically his surrogate momma...
Grace, the dam is the same color as Buddy...a little lighter. Here's a pic of her:

That's the Momma I remember! They are both just absolutley gorgeous creatures! Did you breed her back this year? I seem to remember you did a great deal of research and were trying a different stud this go round...is that correct? I tell you though, the combo that produced Buddy will be hard to top.

COr - Ive been off here for a long time!! All the foals are as beautiful as ever - I love them all!! Hannah your little boy looks like a little copy of mum : ) hes sooo cute! And I love yours too Beverly - freckly : ) ahhh...

Heather he is great...but you know that.Hasnt he grown!
And catcher too! I hope you have the colour your after but I wouldnt have thought you will mind as she is soo pretty anyway - I like the little black triangles she has above her hooves - I hadnt noticed them before...

Rio is also getting bigger now but she is only 8wks old. Her first farriers visit is on monday but she is really good with her feet - Only trouble is I cant catch her!! She had been rubbing her fur on the post and rail and gone bald in places nd where that is growing back is like a mahogany bay - Oh how Id LOVE a mahogany bay!! I hope that can happen!! Still waiting for her to shed though... I havent any recent pictures and I am in hospital (nothing serious) next week so I have friends helping for about the next 6 wks - I will have to get one of them to take some pictures of her. Shes such a cutie, I really think she might have the presence I was after : )

Ok - this is the most recent picture I hve, and its not great - my friend took it from the stable door - it was a VERY hot dya, the foal and mum were in the stable but were beginning to melt so I let them out just after this pic. The dark patches you see are where she has rubbed her fur off (apart from the one in the middle of her face, thats a whirl : ) )GRRRRR but they are coming back a lovely colour - I will get a better picture soon!

Thanks, Kim and Kathee. She is a sabino Tovero Paint.

My horse had a colt and he is only 3 months old and is HUGE.. I will have to get my daughter to take a picture of me dancing with him and put it on here. I pick his front legs up and hold them on my sides and we walk back and forth. Been doing it since he was about 2 weeks old. Also we are teaching him to bow. he did so well yesterday. went all the way down to the ground with his nose yesterday..

You all have beautiful babies!

Here is a link to our web site! Don't know if we have all the pictures on there or not, been a while since i updated!LOL.

I Just love your colt buddy! I love the dam of your colt! He is stunning so is she. I hope he keeps his family jewels he has alot to offer when it comes to breeding! Beverly love that colt what a cutie and all that bone! very nice markings.
Kim love the picture of Rio what a mush!!!! I love those candid pictures, what a love.
Umm Beverly, what are you going to do when he turns a year old and still wants to dance? I bought an 8 month old palomino colt that the breeders taught how to shake hands, after being struck on the calf 2 times I had to reteach him that shaking hands was a big NO NO. what is cute while young could be dangerous when 1000 pounds, just something to consider, he is a cute little guy, would love to see the picture of him bowing, sounds cool!

Ok updated picture from an evening in the field this week. 9 weeks old now and i really need to measure him again, think he must almost be 13h on his rear now.
Have decided I am going to show him and Mum, he looks so cute and I thought what the heck its all education for him.
I must get a pic of his face as he has rubbed out nearly all of it now (bit like yours Kim!) but has come out the most lovely dark bay on his face - very cute and is now getting massive big eyes like his Mum. They are all changing so quick

Kim your little lady looks lovely.
Buddy looks stunning - how is he bred?

I have taught Catcher to bow, also. We are working on the hand shaking, but I think the key is that they do it on command, not at will. I am not sure about the dancing!!! She is much taller than me on her back legs already... I am going to pass on that trick! I am trying to get her geared up for weaning. She is a little over three months now. I understand that weaning can be turned into a critical bonding time and that the foals can be more focused because they are happy for the attention. I plan to work with her a lot during that time. Does anyone know any other foal tricks to teach? I wish I would have started when she was smaller and I could still pick her up. Now everything is a negotiation!

Also, is longeing(sp)appropriate at this age?

Hi Jan,

this "Dancing" trick is taught on command. you have to give the command for him to even think about it. not only that, you have to grab him by the front legs and say UP!! It is not a trick just anyone should try. I have been in this for 20+ yrs.

Bowing is a lot easier. And is also done on cue.
He is a big boy already and yes I understand what you mean by you "could" get hurt, but you could get just as badly hurt walking out in the pasture and something spooking them...

I just joined a group on yahoo. they teach you how to do tricks, but have not even posted there yet, so don't know e-mail off hand. will get it for you or you can look it up on the yahoo group listings...

Hi all!

Kim...it's good to have confirmation from others on my colt. I think he's great, but do nit pick (too ribby, are the legs ok?, does he look ok?,). You know the drill :-). I am his biggest critic...but would love him even if he was 2 headed.
ps. I put in an order for grace to have a filly just like yours this next year. She is a doll. So, am expecting a pretty bay filly...stickin to it.
Kathee...I bred Grace to a different stud this year. Plain economics. I was offered a free breeding to a stud of the same caliber (little difference physically). It was a toss up though...the folks who own Buddy's sire offered a 50% off if I would breed back...I will probably breed her back to Buddy's sire next year though. However, with all of these fabulously colored paint foals I've been starting to look at some paint stallions. Ohhhhh, wouldn't that be neat! I am rather envious of you guys who have those painted babies...
Jan...thank you SO much for your kind words. While I have that lurking hope that he may be stallion quality, it is what OTHERS think (in the long run) that will be of most influence; I'm so biased that my opinion is worthless :-). He is well behaved...no reason to geld at this point.

Hannah, Buddy is a QH appendix by my own personal mare. She is out of a deceased hunt seat sire called Joses Kid Straw. Buddy's sire is Art's Self Portrait, he's by Artful Move. So, Buddy is destined to be a hunt seater.

Here are some pics taken today. The little stripe she has on each side of her hips used to be connected to the white triangle on her rear end. She is currently 11.1 hands at the withers. It is fun to watch them change!

I threw Momma in the pics as well. She is doing great except that her mane is amazingly getting shorter...almost like someone is chewing on it! On well, a couple of weeks and she will be weaned.

No, I didn't breed her back...I wish I had. I can only handle one at a time based on space and I was planning on breeding another mare to a different stud. That fell through on the stud's end and now it is too late. I don't want a summer foal becuase of hurricanes and we travel in the summer. I've decided not to breed the other mare at all because I am so pleased with Catcher. I going to breed Dream as early as I can next year to the same stud again. Catcher will have a full bro or sis!
Thanks for the comments on Dream. I fell in love with her the moment I saw her. She would have had to really have been bad for me not to buy her that day! I think the man knew it ... he would not budge one penny on the price!

Just dropped in to see everyone's babies, my how they have grown! They are all beautiful.
Looks like I'll get to keep Cisco a while longer after all, our foals have been sick with runny noses, coughs.. etc and still aren't well enough yet to be shown or sold let alone travel. I had a bad feeling about this sale anyway so Cisco will stay with me and is now registered to compete in a futurity in September. Going to have to get him really fat and ready to go for that one! I posted on a different link last week and forget where it was! Hope everyone is well, I'll try to stop in more often! Ev.
PS looking forward to the babies in the spring already !!

Anyway, sorry, no new photos yet, the babies have been sick and look crappy right now. Still shedding their wooly rugs and thin but out of the woods now and on their way to recovery. When they look decent again, I'll take some I PROMISE.

I was supposed to have one, but the stud fell through.I was breeding a different mare to a different stud. Now it is too late. I don't want a new foal in the middle of hurricane season. I am breeding Dream back to the same stud next year. Maybe I will pick up a pregnant mare early next year so I can at least have a little one around!

Kathee- hopefully you can find you a mare to buy over the winter months, spring without babies coming is sad.
I guess Cisco is likely going to CO after all. The man came yesterday and is willing to buy him based only on the video he saw of him. ( he really liked my mare too, I'm glad he didn't make an offer for her that I couldn't refuse! He's coming back in Sept/Oct to pick up Cisco and two other stud colts that belong to a friend of ours. I think he'll have a great home and hopefully be famous one day!! I'll get photos before they take him so ya'll can see the handsome lad at least one more time. Now I'm looking forward to spring and Sage's new creation.. let's hope DUN !! or GRULLA! Ev

Heather yes they are both Tobiano, with Chico I see the Overo gene at play with that apron face, very pretty the blue eye is also an indicator that the Overo gene is present (sabino is also overo) so the stallion may have both sabino/overo as well as tobiano. Keysha was the stallion also apron faced (alot of white with a blue eye)? He is a very pretty boy!

Thanks Kathee, yes Checota does love to pose for the camera....she may just turn out to be a halter show prospect. :-) Proud momma talking. Of course Lori you already have your show prospect, you too Heather and Kathee yours are gorgeous as well. We all have foals which are stunning and perfect in every way!!!!!!

ok at second glance I see that Chico does have brown eyes his eylashes on that one side are light and cast a blueish color over his eye making it seem blue upon closer inspection I see now that it was his eyelashes I was seeing, Very nice looking, the stallion I bred my mare to was also a Tovero, but he is registered as a Tobiano since only Tobiano is the only homozygous paint color gene. Tovero is Tobiano/Overo hence the reason Chico has the apron face. Nice boy, his mother looks sorrel or chestnut so no he will not gray out.

Jan- your filly has gotten huge, that girl has some legs under her! ( poor little Cisco is destined to be a shorty I'm afraid..lol ) I think he'll look like a tank though when he's an adult. He's finally picking up weight again after being ill and I clipped the rest of his foal coat off, I couldn't stand it any longer! I'm hoping to have him show ready by the end of August, if so, you can bet I'll have some photos to post then.

well if the mare and the stallion are both APHA (American Paint Horse Assn.)registered you can register the foal as a tobiano with the APHA or if the mare is registered AQHA or APHA and the stallion is the same you can register with the APHA if one or both are not, then you can register the foal with the apHA (American Pinto Horse Assn.)

Thanks Jan - he looks a bit plain compared to all your lovely paints, but looks like a typical thoroughbred really!

Your filly has such presence and a stunning face too! Its such fun watching them all grow in to horses, but as you said a shame that they arent all babies anymore!!

Wow Kassie your stallion looks amazing - such a unique colour!!

I cant wait till next spring when I have decided the next stallion!! So exciting!

Hannah it is not the color or markings in a horse that makes it special, it is its heart/personality and wish to please and conformation which makes a horse a great horse! You have a very nice horse there! Very nice indeed! Thanks for the compliments on my filly next years foal will be all running QH built for speed!

Huey is a little doll. So cute.
Flora will be big, her dad was 17 hands. He was a homozygous tobiano stallion. He was gray but I don't think Flora is turning gray, she has started to shed but just to a darker bay color. Anyhow thanks for the complements on my stud. He is beautiful but I like him most for his personality, he is so sweet and a joy to be around. Saddly he was not handled until he was 6 years old, not halter broke or anything. the lady that bought him trained him and put him under saddle, I just can't get over how well he is due to the fact of him not being handled until late in life. He is now 13 years old and has had 18 foals, 15 of them are champagne. we just found out today that this mare is in foal to him. I am so excited to see the baby next year.

Yes we did breed him to the mare I posted a picture of in my previous post. Also we have two more mares we will be breeding him to this week. I know they will be late foals but I want some foals out of him so bad.
And no you don't see many champagnes. I have looked and looked for a stud and when I found Scotty I knew he would be mine. I love him, everything about him. I plan on breeding him to my Halter mare next year and showing the foal in Halter. Here are pictures of that mare:

I can't believe how fast these guys grow up!! And they're all so beautiful!! My little filly is already a month old! More pictures to come soon I promise ;) But I actually wanted to ask you all what is the first wormer you give your foals? I've heard to rotate strongid and ivermectin, but don't know if it's best to start with one or the other. I want to get her wormed by the end of the week if possible and just wanted to ask everyone advise on which is best. Thanks!!

Horses are missing me, they both run to me when I get there - I definately miss them too...

Yours are all getting soo big - I though Rio was growing - not compared to these! Huey is huge - and looks so calm about being tied - cant imagine mine being quite so calm at any point in her life - athough she does continue to surprise me on that! And flora is beautiful! her marjking and her head are just soooo pretty.

You all must be very proud of what yu made last year : )!

Hi, everyone, haven't been here for a while. I sure like to see everyone's updated foal pics, it is so much fun to watch them change and grow.
Well, we just had the first bath day for all four of my little ones, and it was so much fun. They all did great, as it was a long day. All of my mares and the babies got their feet trimmed and were bathed in one afternoon, and then everyone got their pictures taken. The little ones have almost shed out of their foal coats, but until they do, these pics will have to do.
Here is Bella, my youngest and biggest baby:
http://apdhorses.com/bella.htm

This is Baron, he is sooo friendly:
http://apdhorses.com/baron.htm

This is my Daisy, she is almost like a baby doll compared to the big ones:
http://apdhorses.com/daisy.htm

And this is Jackson, the first 2006 baby:
http://apdhorses.com/jackson.htm
Anyway, it was great to check in and see how all the babies have grown. Here is hoping for a happy 2007 foaling season!

Hi Joanna - glad to hear your doing so well, you must have done this before!! I had a fab first bathing experience, but second time round I cannot say the same!! How can you explain to a horse that the water is only water, it really wont hurt! I think Daisy is my favourtie from the photos, but they all have their own special points dont they : )

Here, for those of you interested, are some piccies of Rio now at 10wks old. She is actually better behaved than her mother at this point! but when I get back in there to train in a few weeks I know mum will come round quicky
ly - baby decides then that she doesnt want to play along! Typical...

Size comparison:
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c172/clafairy/Crimson%20Scenario%20RIO/Ten%20w eeks%20and%20one%20day/04918705.jpg

Rio, shes gone bum high - I hadnt noticed until I saw her picture:
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c172/clafairy/Crimson%20Scenario%20RIO/Ten%20w eeks%20and%20one%20day/mixedones099.jpg

She has quite a presence, her trot is quite flashy - I wasnt sure how to capture it properly but...:

Hey Kim, thanks for the kind words. And I agree with you, I am very fond of Daisy as well. :-)
Any way, as for Rio, she is gorgeous! She is a little high in the rump, but in my experiance, most horses grow out of that by the time they are three. What color is she? She looks like she may be a light bay, but I am having trouble knowing as all of my bays are very dark.
You should be very pleased, that is one beautiful filly you have.

I thought that they grew like that - the bum goes up and the withers catch up and the bum goes up and the withers catch up, and so on... Is that how they grow? She has black points and black mane and tail so genetically speaking I beleive that makes her a Bay - everyone keeps telling me shes chestnut but Im sure thats not technically possible - She should be a bright bay when shes finished but the darker the better as far as Im concerned!! Im hoping for a mahogany bay really : )

Thankyou for your input - Ive never been very good at looking at conformation so Its useful that others can look at her photos. and thankyou for your kind words too-my first foal so Im chuffed to bits with her yes : )

She fell in the field yesterday and has some paralysis down one leg due to nerve damage but she should fix in a few weeks - she also had concussion and was walking around in circles, falling over, leaning on things to stand up etc, but this afternoon she is back to her normal bouncy self just with a slightly sore leg!! Whoops! Maybe she will take it down a gear in future!! Thanks for your comments Jan - any new photos anywhere else?

Kim, His facial marking wont make up its mind over being a stripe or star! And as for bein cuddly, i wish he wud hurry up and lose his coat so i can see wot colour he is going to end up, i hope he gets darker cos like your filly he looks chestnut at the moment, just wiv a black mane and tail! Not sure how big he is, both mum and dad are 16.1hh, so hopefully he will end up about that.He is very cute, very friendly and inquisitive. So far just the one injury, if you look closely on the last photo you can see some darker scarring on the top of his front legs, this is where mum decided to break out of their stable and take him for an adventure!! It wasnt successful as they got stuck in our small starvation paddock, mum jumped the fence and silly little griffin ran straight into the temporary electric fence and got caught up in it, slicing the top of his legs! I am just grateful it wasnt worse, just superficial wounds, luckily there was no need for the vet! They are so accident prone!

Whats Rio's breeding by the way? Who is daddy?

Arent they just Accident prone!! and everyone thought I was going over the top when I was planning the field layout for a foal : )

Griffin has white legs also doesnt he so its hard to tell about his black points, but he definately has the black tips to his ears - Im hoping for a mahogany/blood bay - Unfortunately I think I might have an orange bay - I dont really mind though, I just dont want everyone else to keep questioning her colour - I know she is a bay genetically..she has the mane and tail as you say. I cant see the scars on his legs - I always pray mine wont get seperated like that - I just know mum would brake her legs leaping before she opens her eyes!!

Rio is about 11hh now at 10wks which surprises me - I was hoping for nothing bigger than 15.2hh at the end of her growing. Dad is a 14.2hh new forest pony - he does dressage and a bit of jumping. I only have one photo but I have seen the show photos and he tends to do quite well. Im hoping to do mainly dressage and a bit of jumping too (Im not a very good jumper!)

This is daddy, Wayland Cranberry:

Wow, what a striking stallion! Beautiful, and so eye catching, i can see why you chose him. That mix should be really nice!
No Griffin is a bit of mix, mainly TB, wiv ID and Arab thrown in for fun! Daddy was an anglo Arab, and mum is IDxTB!
http://www.biddesdenstud.co.uk/10632.html
Im hoping Griffin will be a jumping machine, cos yes thats what i have bred him for! Im really aiming to get to intermediate eventing with him, im sure he will be good enough it will just be me thats holds him back! (with me, im not so good at the dressage, havent got the patience 4 it!)
I seem to be having the same problem as you with people calling Griffin chestnut wen they first see him, its soooo annoying, as one of the reasons i chose the stallion Grafik was because he only produces bay offspring! There was no way i was going to risk having another chestnut filly, having one mad red head is plenty for me!
You have now got me wondering how big my baba is, im going to go out and measure him now...............report back later!

: )

Wow, you made a good choice too for what your after hey?! Arab should give good presence and ID usually makes them bold and scopey and a bit more sturdee than a TB. Those three breeds mix very well - although never heard of just ID x Arab....

Im pretty sure Wayland cranberry only produces Bays too as all of his prodigy at the yard were bay. I dont know if his credentials are on their website like grafik's - Ill have a look later (Im just leaving work - YAY!)

Be back to check in later : )

I have a measurement, he is 45 inches at the wither, which i believe is 11.1hh, at 8 weeks old! Maybe he will end up the height im after!
Poor you being at work - Dont mean to rub ur nose in it, but im off work for 2 weeks, im a nanny and the kids i look after have gone on holiday to greece with their parents, meaning i get time off! So far all i have done, is sleep, eat, shop, drink and play with my nags! the only thing i have to complain about is the weather, im wishing it was a bit hotter again! Keep us posted with photos and progress of Rio!

Kim..Rio is so elegant looking!
I was gone for 3 weeks(in Berlin Germany), and when i came home Jericho went from a baby to a little man...hes almost shedded out completely and he is exactly what i ordered, looks arab in the head and a beautiful crested neck with muscle build of the QH...hes naughty though...loves to play mount with his sister...im thinking hell be gelded by a year old, but i had hoped to get him closer to 2 to get better muscle build!
heres a couple pics...
one of him by mom, other is him showing off out in the yard!

Kris- he's beautiful, seeing him makes me sad, I sold Sage and Cisco yesterday. I'd not intended to sell Sage, she was bred to Listo again, but cicumstances made it necessary. I rode Avery last night, she needs some tuning up, but she's certainly not the horse Sage was, I'm seriously considering selling them all and being "horse free" for a while.

I just cant see that happening form someone as serious as you! (course i never thoguth id be down to 4 horses either). man that is too bad. did avery take to her date also?

Yes, Avery is bred, but I don't know if I'll still own her in April. ( we'll see ) Eventually, I might have another, but it will be hard to replace Sage, there's not another on the place that's even close.

Evie I am so sorry you sold Sage...I am sure it was needed, but gosh I would be heart struck missing my favorite...I know how you must feel (((((((((HUGS))))))))))))) After Digger lost twins I felt like I needed to get away from horses too, but this little filly of Jades gave me back that fulfillment I get from the love I have for horses...thank goodness this little girl was born and is healthy.

Kris Your colt is gorgeous and such a pretty color, what a build and that face! I love it! :-)

WOW Hannah he is huge, how tall is your mare? Have you put a stick/tape to that colt to get his height? He is a biggun! Your gonna need a 5 foot tall ladder to mount him I think LOL He is a nice BIG colt you got there!

Hi All

Will measure him tonight but almost dread doing it!! He was 51" at 10 weeks and that was the last time I measured him. He was born on May 3rd

His mum is 15.1 7/8tb and Dad is 16h 7/8tb, both with really good confirmation so fingers crossed! However I am only about 5ft tall so I really do hope he stops soon!! Also he is all "man" at the moment - is that early?

Thanks for the hugs and comfort Jan, I really feel empty knowing she is gone, she was the cornerstone of my plans for the future, having sold her, I just don't have the desire to start over. I do have a son of hers that I believe is going to be gray, he looks very much like her and acts the same too, maybe I'll learn to love him like I did her when I start breaking him out this fall. I don't think another horse will ever fill her shoes though.

Evie, I'm SO sorry to hear about Sage! My heart goes out to you. When we left France for TN five years ago, I found out I couldn't keep my 16 year old Camargue gelding that I had had for 3 years. When I bought him, he was my "forever" horse, and I couldn't imagine that any circumstances could change my feelings for or commitment to him. But he tested positive for piroplasmosis, and though I tried every option to get around it, when the last door finally closed and I realized I had to let him go, I cried and cried and cried. It was almost 6 months before I could think about getting another horse in the US. Fortunately, the girl I gave Tsar to still sends me news and pictures 5 years later, and I know he is fat and happy. But sometimes when I see a shady dirt road, I still get teary-eyed thinking how much Tsar would love a ride down that road. Once they're in our hearts, they are there forever, aren't they? And when they leave, they take a chunk of us with them. I'm praying for you as you grieve your lovely Sage, and if it helps to know, I'm crying with you.

Evie - Sorry to hear you have had to sell her on - Its nice that you still have her with you in her son though and that you feel you could make him into something as special as she was if not the same.

Hannah - mine is taller than I had expected but not as tall as your huey - Rio is 48" at the withers at 11wks. She is bum high at the moment so I know she will have changed again shortly but for now 12hh is quite enough anyhow!! She had better have stopped by the time she gets to 15hh - 15.2hh entirely....! Mum is 16hh and dad is only 14.2hh!

Evie, your right when you say no horse will ever fill her shoes, no horse will, but there is a horse out ther or with you now that will fill other shoes that will go clip clopping around your heart too! Maybe not the same, but they will fill a hole that she left. One loves someone/thing then loses that love, that same love is never reclaimed, but a new love enters through the hole the other left behind, not the same different, but fulfilling. Evie I know what it like I when through the same thing but I don't get to say good bye and tell my mare that I love her. It is a year today and when ever I see and Red dun overo up for sale my heart jumps out of my chest hope it her. Just remenber the other horse around you and share the love that you have for her will them. And you will be with her again maybe not on earth but in heaven. Big Huges

Thanks to everyone for the outpouring of sympathy, I just hope that they take good care of Sage and she'll be happy out there in Colorado. One thing is certain, she'll appreciate not being in a box stall so much of the time. I've turned my attention to Avery now, she's coming along nicely and probably appreciating getting out of her stall more often since Sage is gone. I still have Sasha to get trained and then this fall Chaos ( Sage's colt ) and Sable to break out. Already I'm tempted to look for another mare to fill Sage's shoes but I doubt that there will ever be another quite like her.. she was one of a kind. Avery is sweet, although I shouldn't say that since she nipped me last night..lol. Sage would NEVER have done that! ( and after I busted her a good one, I doubt that Avery will again! ) Anyway, I have Avery and Sasha's foals to look forward to and the joy of breaking Chaos and Sable this fall.. so I'll be busy and hopefully not think about Sage and miss her too much. Thanks again for the warm thoughts, Ev. ((( HUGS ))) right back at ya!
