Hey Everyone
What is a milking vein? my mare is getting veins under her stomach, by her udder. What does it mean? She's about 307 days

I'm no expert but you are probably getting closer I would think. My mare got them just a few days before but some I think have them a bit more ahead of time. The other girls would know better.

Elena those would be milk veins it is normal and just means see is heading towards the end of pregnancy. My mare is at day 309 today and has started a bag last year she foaled four weeks after starting a bag so I guess I'm down to four weeks away.

Raven- Yea thats what it looks like, theres not as many though. She started getting them a few days ago! Thanks for the pic.
Windy-Thanks as well! My mare is 308 today. We'll be on foal watch together!

My mare got those from about 6 months along in her first pregnancy, and they never went away, even the year she was empty.

So unfortunately, they are not an accurate indicator of foaling being close.

I sometimes worry about how big Pammy's are. They are like an old dairy cow, and she is a young mare.
