i have always heard that when you get a tetanus shot for a newborn foal that you should give the anatoxin form and not the toxoid form. is this correct because the guy at the barn where i board gave their newborn a toxoid tetanus. will this hurt him? what do i need to watch the foal for if anything. help me out here, please?

It is more normal to give tetanus antitoxin to a foal, and if the mare was innoculated within the last 4 to 6 weeks of pregnancy, the foal will already have some immunity anyway.
It is probable that the use of tetanus toxoid will not cause a problem, but the foal should be monitored for any signs of high fever, stopping of eating, or depression, and if it occurs, give your veterinarian a call.
how much tetanus antitoxin do you administer to a new born foal?
