Has anyone found something or created something that works in stopping the foal from eating the mares tail? I don't have a foal on the ground yet but have heard horror stories. My mare is a show mare with a lovely, long, thick tail. I was going to try a 3-tube tail wrap and some bitter apple or hot pepper spray. Any ideas?

My colt eats my stallions tail through the fence and I am ready to kill him, he has two tail bags on and I sprayed the bitter apple stuff and the chew stop. Neither is working. I also made hot Cheyenne pepper spray and soaked the tail bag in it and still he chews it!! Luckly I have never had a foal interested in chewing the moms tail yet, just this stud colt, which I did not raise from a baby. Can't wait to hear suggestions too.

I use Vicks Vapour rub and it works wonders. Just a wiff of it is enough to end the habit for my foals.
