Mare due in 27 days, no udder Equine-Reproduction.com Bulletin Board » Pregnant Mare and the Newborn Foal - Volume 1 » Mare due in 27 days, no udder « Previous Next » Author Message   Rebecca Kate Smith Neonate Username: Iheartskeetles Post Number: 3 Registered: 01-2006 Posted on Wednesday, February 01, 2006 - 06:53 pm:        my mare is "due" february 28th and i went to check on her today to see how her udders were developing and they aren't. her nipples used to point downwards and now they point towards her head and they feel hard and are sort of shaped like two sausages. i tried to express milk from them and got nothing. also, she is enormous!! i'll try to get some pictures of her before she foals, anyway, i put my cold hand up under her giant belly and that little brat began to kick up a storm. i have a feeling that this foal is going to be a handful! i have another question, does the foal need straw after the foaling process? i purchased 4 bales and she will be in a 12' by 12' stall. i can't wait!!
