I would love to know the earliest foals people have had and whether they survived... My mare is 308 days and dripping milk with huge bag, tested milk at 125ppm calcium levels..Please post your experiences to help me understand what I am dealing with here. P.S I am in Melbourne, Australia

We've had 3 born around 315 days. One lasted 3 days. The other 2 (the same mare and her only 2 foals) were normal, full term looking foals. Healthy and strong as oxes.
Another mare that we covered went home and foaled around 300 days. I know it's not supposed to happen, but she had a healthy but small colt, which required no special care. The stud book didn't believe it, but she only ever got the one cover!
I guess it's the same old rule with horses. They'll do anything they can to make you worry about them!

Obviously it would be better if she can hang on a bit longer, but you may still be alright.
Just be ready with leg bandages and blankets to keep bubby warm if he/she comes early. And it wouldn't hurt to let your vet know what's happening in advance so they can be ready to help if needed.
Good Luck!!
