I just wanted to let everyone in on the exitement.
We had all four of our mares bred this May, two of which did not take last year. I was not putting much hope in it, just figured I had a chance of one to two babies next year.
Well, all four of the mares took, and all of the babies are due within ten days of each other at the end of April, 2006! I am so exited and thrilled and maybe just a little nervous, but it is so worth it!
So, here's to another happy and successful year of baby waiting to all, can't wait to see what everyone gets next year.

Joanna;

I have three mares confirmed in foal by ultrasound just in the last two weeks.. Two are within a week of one another, about a month along now, and the other one is a new mare I purchased. She is 60 days along.

Can't wait for a new year of babies ! :-)

I have 2 of my own mares confirmed in foal for next year. I have a NH TB mare,(Stella), confirmed in foal to Tadmus(KWPN), and I have a winning racemare by French Deputy confirmed in foal to Catcherintherye, a nice young Danehill horse standing at Coolmore. Stella is an old pro at this stage, but Madison won't have a clue to what's going on. Right now she's just enjoying relaxing and being turned out. Debbie, how many new mare did you get and who is Becky in foal to?
Good Luck everyone and hope everyone has happy healthy foals and mares!

teb;

I bought one new mare. She is a halter and western pleasure producer. She is a homozygous black and white, homo for black as well tobiano, bred to another homo black, homo tobi also with halter and performance points. She was just confirmed in foal last week, so now we are starting the paperwork to bring her up. She is 60 days along according to the vet. She is in Indiana, about 19 hours from me.

My Becky was bred back to the buckskin stallion at the foaling facility where she had Paris. Becky is homozygous for tobiano, and for Bay, the buckskin is homozygous for tobiano, so I am hoping for a Buckskin out of that match.

My third mare is the breeding stock that lost her foal last February. She is bred back to the same stud, a homozygous tobiano black and white, so I am hoping for another black and white filly from that match - which is what I lost last year.

I will send you some pictures of them so you can see what I have Teb.

Deb.

Here's to everyone having a safe and joyous foaling season next year! I cannot wait for my Tre' Saes foal to come, and my AQHA APHA paint foal to come, it will be a tobiano. :-) both mares were AIed and ultrasounded at 16, 35, and 50 days as well as palpated at 5 months. everything looks good so far. : )

Okay, here is an update of my girls:
They are all between eight and nine months along, and around the first of April I will offically be on foal watch. I am seriously catching up on sleep, I have a feeling I'm gonna need it!
All of the babies are VERY active, some moving so much as to make their mamas grunt and groan.:-)
I was wondering if anybody had a suggestion of a good foaling monitor? I have been considering one, as last year I woke up every hour to check on them (that gets really old really fast.)

Anyway, here are some pics of the girls:
This is Rockette, she is 235 days along, and cute as a button.:-) http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e93/JoannaLK/111111.jpg

This is Tiffany, at 244 days, pregnant with her tenth baby. http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e93/JoannaLK/0000.jpg

Here is Sissy, my biggest mare, at 251 days along: http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e93/JoannaLK/100_2612.jpg

And this is Satin, the sassy one, at 255 days: http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e93/JoannaLK/222222.jpg

I am so looking foward to the new babies, I can hardly wait.

Joanna -what beautiful mares! A what a beautiful setting! I purchased a camera for the barn, but it still has to be watched. Are you talking about the monitors that attach to the mare and send an alarm when the mare enters labor?

Joanna .. they are lovely but my favorites have to be the two black mares, I have a soft spot for heavy horses. What are they all in foal to?

Hey guys, thanks for the compliments.
Emma, I have to agree with you, the big girls are just so great to have.
As for what they are bred to:
Tiffany and Rockette are bred to a 100% foundation quarter horse stud that I have used before. In fact, Rockette's baby from last year was out of this stud, and I was very pleased with the results. He is a bay, and he always throws the agouti gene to his foals, so we know that Rockette wil have a bay, but I am really, REALLY hoping for a buckskin out of Tiffany.
The big girls are both bred to a homozygous tobiano, and I am hoping for two black spotted draft babies.
Anyway, no matter what color the mares have this year, I am just going to be thrilled to have babies around. The best part of having the horses is when the babies come!
As for a foaling moniter, I was considering the type that attaches to the mares halter, and goes off when she lays prone for more then seven seconds. Does anyone have any thoughts on these; pros, cons, etc?
Thanks
Joanna

Wow Joanna ... Can't wait to see the results! Foals should be stunning!
A Pro to those halter systems are that they can go off a lot, and after half a dozen false alarms over serveral nights you start to no be as quick to respond.

Hi!
I have 1 mare do in April, I think on easter. But I guess you can never be sure because she is a maiden mare. I am so excited! Only 2 more months to go! The baby was really active today, my mares stomach looked like jello for about a minute! I love seeing and feeling it! Joanna, you have beautiful horses! We're going to be grandma's around the same time! We'll have to post pics!
Elena
