Hey guys. I am also having trouble seeing posts since part Two is so long now, so I am starting a part THREE off with the post from part TWO i wrote earlier today!. Looking forward to more foal stories so keep them all coming ! OK. here are the newest pictures taken last weekend (March 12th). I didn't get any taken this weekend as we were busy tapping our trees for the annual Maple Syrup run. Shes still fat and happy and enjoying herself ! Here is Becky taken from the side at 281 days http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y4/canadianhorselady/BeckyMar12.jpg This one is a rear end view http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y4/canadianhorselady/BeckyMarch12rearendDay281. jpg And last, a belly shot taken the same day http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y4/canadianhorselady/BeckyBellyMar12Day281.jpg She will be going to the foaling facility on April 2nd, then returning to this facility after the foal is a few weeks old and she is bred to the Homozygous Buckskin at the foaling facility. |

Yes she is a maiden mare but a veteran auntie Becky to her half sisters last two foals. She just turned 4 on the 15th of the month. I will for sure be posting baby pictures once we have a healthy foal on the ground She is off to the foaling facility on April 2nd so I will be taking my digital camera along that weekend as well. |

My mare is still playing the waiting game with me.She is 341 days today. The last two foals she had after a storm and it's been raining hard here all day.Maybe she is going to wait until wed. when I'm off work so I can "hold her hand."Hope all goes well with everyone and we all make it through this stressful but exciting time. |

My mare played the game, "Guess if I'm pregnant or not!" Three weeks ago I went back and forth on a daily basis, is she? or isn't she? Then, she began changing and as of this past weekend, has begun bagging. This is my special mare, out of the six I own. This cranky, stubborn, opinionated mare has helped me accomplish a great deal as far as showing. I've owned her since she was 4 and we've been through a lot together. I bred her in 2002 and she didn't take. Showed her in 2003 and decided to breed her in 2004. She is 14 this year. Here she was Monday AM, doesn't look too pregnant does she? http://images.snapfish.com/3434663923232%7Ffp47%3Dot%3E233%3C%3D34%3A%3D37%3C%3D XROQDF%3E23237%3A2679%3A%3B6ot1lsi Well, here's a side shot, so no more guessing! She is due April 22, or whenever the critter is done baking! http://images.snapfish.com/3434663923232%7Ffp4%3Enu%3D324%3B%3E259%3E28%3B%3EWSN RCG%3D3232893588993nu0mrj |

Teb: She is enjoying herself there at the horsey holiday inn and getting lots of attention and TLC. The owner only has 5 other horses so she has her own private paddock and a nice big stall as well. We took Pixie, the mare that lost her foal in Feb there on the weekend so she can get her share of TLC too With the border not open to beef yet ughhh.... the dairy farm is filling up with too many young cows so I wanted to give my horse some time with horses for a while. She seems to love it there though I am sure it will take her a week or so to get used to the place and new horses and new people. Janelle: Your mare reminds me of my Pixie, only Pixie has four white socks. She is a beauty for sure. She doesnt look pregant in the first shot, but she sure does in the second one Ralph: I hope your mare holds off until you finish up at work so you can watch the whole process. I just sold my house in the city on Monday but won't be up at the farm until mid June, so I won't be there to see my Becky foal, but thats ok, there is always next year. At least I will be at the farm full time to see our new horse barn being built and be able to bring all the horses home for good. That is what I am really looking forward to. I plan to take a year off and work on the farm. Phew.. cant wait! |

Janelle, your mare looks as if she could be a sister to my mare except for the white on her face--mine has none and my mare is REALLY big.I'm hoping for a filly.I had three colts in 2003 but took last year off and gave everyone a break.I've got this baby coming now, pups coming on Mrch 31 and April 7 and my third grandaughter coming on April 12----lots of babies and lots of stress but worth it all.Have a great day |

Horselady---It's so nice having horses around--I have four--three mares and a beautiful 2yr old stud. He's one of my babies that I kept from 2003.He is spoiled rotten but a real joy to be around. The "girls" push him around a bit but we have that in common as I too live with all girls.I've got to go check on Queen so I'll talk with everyone later.Have a great day! |

Update on my mini maiden: She's 331 days today and is driving me crazy! Her "milk" has been like thick gooey honey for 8 days now. Normally when I would check her milk I was only able to get just a few tiny drops out. Last night when I barely touched her nipple, the milk just poured out. She spent the whole night last night just wandering her stall and didn't stay in one spot for long. Well this morning when I checked her, it's back to being able to only get out a few tiny drops! The fluid is extremely thick, totally clear with a very light tint of yellow to it. I'm beginning to think her mother might foal before she does, and she will be 300 days on Friday. Last year her mother foaled at 323. I really hope this maiden goes first though, because I only have one foaling camera, so I can't watch them both at the same time. I'll tell ya, I could really use a full night's sleep right about now |

Keep us posted Sandy! Try to snooze during the day if you get a chance. You know how these horses like to foal at night so by morning the baby is ready to run beside momma ( wild herd instinct). I have a feeling that my maiden will go somewhere between 3 and 6am when the time comes as this is when she seems to be most active during the night according to the boarding facility owner. She is only 292 days today so I guess we will see when the time comes! |

Just wanted to update yall on Ollie. He white count was down again from 6900 to 5400 so they have changed his antibiotics to Clorinphenical (sp?) which is some nasty stuff for us humans. Hopefully he won't be on it for long. He is very active and nursing well. He did however have an episode of peeing through his navel but that has resolved and the culture came back negative for bacteria. Our graded stakes winner left on Sunday to go to Northview to be bred. Hopefully they can get her cycling right and covered. Nurse mare ovulated a single and were are keeping our fingers crossed that Truely will not be carrying twins! Congratulations on all the new foals. They are sooo cute. Good luck to those on marestare! |

Suzanne: Keep us posted on little Ollie. He sure seems to be a fighter! I heard that the peeing through the navel is from using a navel antibiotic / drying agent that is too harsh which dries up the area too severely and causes some skin damage resulting in leakage from the navel when the foal has to pee... anyone else hear that? What did you use for the navel and in what concentration? |

Suzanne, thanks for the Ollie Update!! And give Truely a hug from us too; what a grand mare she is! Sandy: LOL, I can't make fun of you cause I'll be doing that too in another month or so. I hope she goes soon for you!!! Horselady: My maiden is 300 days tomorrow!! I feel like I crossed some sort of invisible marker! She was starting to develop a tiny little udder on Saturday and I am making a trip out tomorrow to see where we are at. Hopefully I can get more pictures while I'm there. She is going to start coming into a stall in the next few weeks. |

Suzanne, Very intrested to know about your racemare-who is she and who are you sending her too? I just bought my first racemare here in Ireland and am planning on breeding her to Statue Of Liberty at Coolmore-he is a half brother to Lemon Drop Kid and he's by Storm Cat. My mare wond 4 races in England and is a full sister to a listed winning horse. So now we have one TB for the sporthorses and one TB for the racehorses. Also I hope Ollie is doing better-he has all of us pulling for him. Sandy, You sound much the same as me before my mare foaled, the day of the evening she foaled I was a walking zombie, I had all I could take of watching that camera which is addicting by the way! She foaled at 9:00pm, but was up til 2:00am to make sure everything was cool. Took me a week of naps and going to be early before I was right! Horselady, I'm so glad you will be with your horses on your own place. There is nothing better! Ralph, let us know what you have! |

No baby yet.Queen-(not her registered name-I call her that because she thinks she is one)She is 343 days today. It was snowing today and she didn't get to go outside. She got a good brushing though(which she loves)and I spent a lot of time with her.I told her she could wait until wed. if she wanted so I could be there with her.My wife said to talk to her because between work and Queen there isn't much time left for her.I'm really hoping for a filly.Good luck to everyone.Suzanne--hang in there.Ollie I'm sure knows that you're doing everything you can for him and I'm sure he'll remember when he gets older and be the best horse you've ever had. |

Teb, You are so right about the camera being addicting! As a matter of fact I have the monitor sitting on top of my computer monitor right now and I'm watching her as I'm writing this. Her milk is still just super thick and sticky. She did a lot of up and down last night, kicking her belly, swishing her tail. I was almost sure that she would go last night with the way she was acting, but right now she is just standing in the corner of her stall doing absolutely nothing. Last night when I checked on her, I touched her tail to move it to the side to look at her vulva, and she actually moved her tail to the side for me, which normally she would suck her tail down...so I KNOW she has to be close. There is a big storm rolling in today, supposed to get a lot of rain and mixed snow. But by the weekend it is supposed to be good weather again, so I'm actually hoping that she will wait until the weekend. Normally I wouldn't even be watching a mare this closely without the milk being white first, but with her being a maiden, I just know that she could foal without the milk being white. Horselady, I wish I could catch a few Z's during the day...but with 13 horses, it is pretty much a full time job around here, so no rest for me for a while. And I think by the time this first mare foals, I will have to start watching the next one, and then the next one after that! Plus I have client mares that are going to start coming for breeding the second week of April. And then show season starts! Ya just gotta love it |

HOrselady: we used chlorahexadine as recommended by our vet. They think it was caused by some of the straining he had done when he was a few days old trying to urinate. All dry now though! Teb: Our girl is named Scootin' Girl and she is going to see Domestic Dispute which just retired. She had a great career for us being a homebred and her half sister just won four straight special allowances at three different tracks. We have her other two half sister here at the farm and can't wait to see how they do. Ollie thanks all of your for your thoughts. He is sooo strong now and loves to buck and rear...but mostly buck! Its a real rodeo session on the way out to his paddock...he tends to like to wander from mom so we have to lead him! |

I'm sorry it's such an awful picture; I went out tonight to see my maiden and I missed the last light of the day. The paddock was WAY to muddy to even try to go out into (my boots kept getting sucked off) so this is the best I could do tonight. She is certainly getting rounder now. I don't have any pictures of Majic, guess I better get some! She is 330 days today and she is waxing on both nipples! I'm only working 1/2 day - geez, I still need to hook up the monitor and get the heat lamp in the foaling stall. Oh & I guess I better pull out a baby blanket as it was only 11 degrees at my house this morning! Too soon - I want her to wait until April! Sandy |

horselady, Yeah, luckily I DO like coffee....LOL. Well, today is the 10th day that my mare has had the thick, gooey honey-like milk. Yesterday it had seemed as though her udder had actually shrunk! It was much smaller and flabbier than it had been. This morning it is back to being the size it was before and is taught. The milk is still perfectly clear and super thick. The thing that is starting to concern me is that I haven't seen any foal movement at all for approx. a week. I tried poking and pushing on her belly yesterday to try to get some movement but there was nothing. I also noticed that when I pushed right in front of her flank area, it was extremely squishy, not hard at all, so I think that means that maybe the foal is still down low? This mare is really keeping me guessing and wondering. Sandy, It sounds to me like your mare is going to foal any time now I sure hope you have enough time to get everything ready that you wanted to. Let us know how it goes. |

My mare has been waxing since Tuesday, huge tense udders, tail relaxed, hollows above flanks and still no foal! Are there any other signs I should be watching for? The wax on her teats is an opaque white, does that signify anything? The wait is killing me. Does anyone else breed Missouri Foxtrotters? |

I have been reading all your postings to help with my nerves. I am new to this group and accidently found this site and have been loving it. So i thought i'd better introduce myself. I just love all the info and questions which i have needed answers to so thanks alot. I am a first timer at this i have a maiden Morgan mare who is at day 331 today, she started bagging up about three weeks ago but i cant believe how tiny her teats are hopefully they get bigger soon the kid wont have anything to grab. lol. There is lots of movement in there and she is getting a flat butt i can see her tailbone which is very weird for a mare with a nice rounded butt usually. She is 7 years old i am worried since it is my first and hers as well. It looks like S. Smith is due at the same time as us. It is a funny sight i have her at a appaloosa breeding farm (lots of color) then i have my dark liver chestnut which stands out like a sore thumb no white on her at all. It will be neat to see her baby running around with all those bright babies. |

Seems to be alot of waiting going on with few cooperating mares-mine included. My maiden Susies at 346 days today. Milks finally changed from yellow to cloudy white and her tail head is becoming more pronounced now. Shes looking pretty miserable in the field, but still eating really well. As for Hazel, shes at 326 days and has an udder twice the size of Susies but her teats haven't filled yet so i'm hoping she'll hang on til the others foaled so i can move her to the foaling box. Can't wait for these foals to be born, wish they'd just hurry up and do it! Best wishes everyone. |

Hello Everyone I have been reading this topic for a long time and now I have a question for you'll. I have a mare that is due to foal the 31 of this month. The old own was out to day and almost passout over how big she was. She has never had her foal with her but her brother had her foal and they never seen her this big. She has tell is that we will mostly have to help pull the foal but she think she may have twins..... IS there a way to tell if she will have twin? She has show sign of wanting to foal and the own said she looks like she could foal any minture now is there any sign that I can look for. Besides "sweating, waxing, pacing, yawning?" Thank you I will have picture tomorrow |

She's here! Majic delivered a beautiful black filly at 10:45 Easter morning. We are calling her Lily. Had the vet here this morning and Majic and Lily are doing great! History: Majic's udder began filling on March 3rd, waxing on March 24th, milk on March 26th, delivered on March 27th. She was 332 days. Congratulations Sandy! My mini maiden is 337 today, has been extremely cranky for the last 3 days or so. Yesterday her udder was really hard, but this morning it is back to somewhat tight, but not like yesterday. Milk is still a pale yellow and clear, it's coming out a little better, still super thick, but not as sticky. She is rubbing her butt quite frequently, a lot of kicking her belly and swishing her tail. All of her behaviors indicate it shouldn't be much longer, but I'm not holding my breath! |

Congratulations Sandy, shes lovely. Well last night my maiden finally to put me out of my misery at 347 days. She was dripping milk and pacing at 10.10pm last night, i trotted off to refill her water buckets, got back two minutes later and the feet were out! There followed an hysterical call to the vets with me positive that something was wrong, but despite my pessimism a filly was born 10 minute later. The vet came anyway fortunately as the placenta had torn and left a big chunk inside, enough to have killed her within 24 hours apparantly. Anyway, sorry to babble on, and i wish the rest of you the best of luck. I'm just off to start staring at Hazel now..only 13 days to go...! |

CONGRATS AMANDA AND SANDY!!!! Went out and checked Lilly (maiden 306 days) and her udder is really starting to fill in, but only in the back, towards her tail. Her teats and the front look wrinkled and small like usual. The back is hot and firm. We are currently trying to figure out when to start bringing her in. We were planning on the 2nd week of April, do you guys think I should do it sooner? Otherwise, everything is as it was. I didn't notice any changes in the vulva or rear end. THANKS |

twhgait: Im guessing she will go long and drive me nuts. She isnt showing any signs of anything but I will check her this weekend when she goes to the foaling facility. I will also have the lady that specializes in foaling take a look at her and give me her opinion. Ill let you know what she says, but for now im guessing 347 days LOL. |
