I have a 8 week old colt who has a snotty nose that you can hear in his nasal passages when he breathes in and out, and his dam has snot marks all over from him wiping his nose. He is a bit depressed, but is still eating both hay and nursing, and pooping normal. His dam was vaccinated 2 weeks before he due date and went almost a month overdue. So I am afraid the colt did not get what he needed from those vaccinations. Does this sound like a common cold or ???

Sounds like a possible upper respiratory infection. Is the nasal discharge clear or thick and whitish or greenish? Have your vet look at the foal, and if it is a respiratory infection, he needs to be started on antibiotics right away, and my experience has always been good with upper respiratory infections clearing up fairly quickly once the antibiotics are started.
