One of our pregnant mares foundered in this very cold weather and the vet has advised giving her bute and ixyprocen (not sure on the spelling). I have heard bute can be toxic to the embryo. Has anyone had any experience with this?

My vet has advised me against using bute for pain management in an injured, pregnant mare. He does not recommend banamine either.

Is your mare on isoxuprene? I have a pregnant mare on this to help support the pregnancy.

Bute is a blood thinner. That is the main reason it should not be given to pregnant mares.
