Is he getting all he wants, or I am just watching at a time after he has nursed a bit? He is having a brownish manure (he is 24hours old) and is passing urine, and seems energetic. They nurse nurse often, not for long periods. Relax, all is well!! The mare is most probably a bit sore. It takes some time to adjust to all the nursing. Please make sure that fresh water is available to the foal at an adequate height. They need to drink water, nursing is not enough. Enjoy your foal.
