I HAVE A 4 YR OLD MINIATURE MARE AND SHE IS 3 WEEKS AWAY FROM HAVING HER 3RD FOAL. HER FIRST FOAL DIED BECAUSE THE OWNERS WERE NOT THERE TO HELP HER GIVE BIRTH AND THE BABY ENDED UP GETTING STUCK BECAUSE THE BACK LEG WAS CAUGHT. NOW WE HAVE HER AND WANT TO BE THERE FOR HER INCASE ANY PROBLEMS SHOULD ARISE. WHICH BIRTH ALERTS ARE BEST TO USE AND STILL AT A REASONABLY GOOD PRICE RANGE?

My mare is due to foal any day now. I've been using a wireless baby monitor with a TV monitor and sound (2.4 Ghz model works good 350 ft away with clear line of sight). I have the camera down at my barn and the monitor up at my house connected to my VCR & TV - so I can watch her in the comfort of my house and also record on the VCR. I feel more comfortable knowing when she's laying down resting (not birthing - as the birth alert would alarm everytime your mare lays down) and she also has her privacy.
