Okay, I have two embryo transfer recep mares. When they came from the reproduction center, it was recomended that they be on Regumate until at least 60 days, then they should be tested for their levels. Both are 90 days safe in foal. At 60 days I had a P4 test ran to determine if I could take them off Regumate. At 60 days they both tested at 4.2 and I opted to keep them on for an additional 30 days and retest. At 90 days, one tested a 5.4 and one a 6.1.
My question is: Is it likely to be okay to take them off the Regumate at this point. Should the levels continue to go up, or could it flucuate.
Thanks in advance for any insight ya'll might provide.

Progesterone levels peak at about 90 days and will therefore decline after that point. By ~120 days the 5-alpha Pregnane group takes over the functions of progesterone and those will not assay as progesterone. As it is questionable if they needed to be on it this long (a few days is what we keep them on for after ET unless there is an obvious issue), it will probably be perfectly OK to take them off.
