This mare is driving my looney! She was AI'd 266 days ago and confirmed in foal. However, I am now wondering if she lost the foal early because she sure isn't getting very big. Some days I say Oh yeah, she definitely pregnant. Then other days I'm thinking no way. Please give me your opinions either way. I just can't remember how big she was at this point last year. I don't think she ever gets really wide until really close before foaling. I might just have to wait a little longer, but I am in the process of buying next year stallion service, so this will obviously affect that decision. What do you all think?? Here are the pics from today:

In comparison to my mare (See on the ready and waiting 2011 board under Rythem's watch), I would say yes, just carrying tight.

Can some one tell me if my mare is pregnant, she was with a clt last year may 2010, and was standing with him for a while, he was then 1 year and 4 months, they were standing together til he was 2 years old... she has not come into season for a while. This will as far as i no be her first foal.

Pictures are not a reliable way to know if a mare is in foal. I had a mare who was declared "open" after two ultrasound exams. I brought her home and as she gained weight I cut back on her feed. Finally, my daughter noticed large milk veins on the mares belly and suggested calling the vet. He was embarassed but the mare was in foal. On the other hand I had a boarder's mare who was in with my mare...they were equally round in the belly but one day someone remarked on how sad it was that the my mare was sweating so profusely. I suddenly realized that the other mare was suffering from anhydrosis. We checked and she had lost the foal. A round belly is not a reliable measure!
