HELP me figure our five year old Paint Halter Stallion out. 2003 will be his third year in the breeding barn. He has sired foals and has no problems ejaculating, mounting the phantom or with his semen.
My question is: He is so extremely slow to become arroused! The vet comes to the ranch for every collection. Our stallion is really tough to get arroused. I've collected urine from my open mares and that has helped when we use a mare that isn't "in".
Why is our stallion so slow to become excited? The stud pen is situated on one side of the fence and a couple mares on the other. He does spend quite a bit of time sniffing noses through the fence. Since we collect outdoors, the phantom is also in plain view 24/7.
I need some help figuring this guy out. What can I do to help him?

You might want to try to isolate him from visual contact with the mares for a week or so and then his interest might pick up .
Has your vet evaluated him yet? If not have vet out to do a thorough exam..
