One of the broodmares has been getting ready to foal. Her udder started bagging up over 2 weeks ago. This week her belly has dropped and her udder is huge. I noticed that she has been having a little bit of brownish, yellowish discharge. She is still eating fine, temp. was 99.6 this morning. the discharge has no smell to it and she seems just fine. Should I call the vet or is this a sign of impending birth ??

I would say within three days or sooner you should have a foal :-) Just my experience once you start seeing a discharge of this color... sortta like a bloody show in humans

Well, still no baby. However this morning she was laying down and looking at her belly a lot. Then she decided to get back up and nothing has happend since then. She did have a little bit of blood on her vulva though. I did call the vet the other day on the discharge she was having and he said as long as there is no foul odor it should be ok.

Nothing happend sofar, but then again I didnt think she would do anything during the day anyway. Its weird, but a few days ago her belly was alot pointier then now. I hope she does have it tonight. She came down with Navicular while pregnant and it progressed real fast. She is so uncomfortable and all that extra weight isnt helping. This will ber her last baby. Its supposed to storm tomorrow. I bet she waits until it storms
