Ok, my mare is finally letting down milk/colostrum. This started Monday night and was amber in color and very sticky/viscous. Starting last night it has become more clearish and thicker. (Does not run off your hand) From what I have read from the time it comes in it is usually 4-6 days is this correct? I do not have any test strips. I really hate to keep checking the milk as I worry about having enough for baby. (I am only taking about half a dime size or less.) Any of your "milkers" have any insight for me? lol She is at 377 days today. Usually she foals around 345-350 but AQHA does have her first foal on record around 380-382 days. |
