Hi All,
Just wondering does anybody know what is the mares temperature during foaling. I know it can decrease slightly pre-foaling but just wondering does it increase and by how much during birth? I know not all mares sweat during foaling but can their temperature increase?.
Thanks!!

Hi JOS,
That thread was about before the mare foals as an indication of when she might foal. I'm more interested in during foaling. Its for a colllege project and I need to know what is the body temperature of the mare during foaling.

that's an interesting one. We take all our mares temperature prior to foaling as it usually does give an indication of when she might foal. However i am not sure I fancy trying to take a temperature while foaling!!! However all our mares have thermal microchips which makes everything alot eaier to monitor. My mares are all late this year so not due til June. But if I remember will try and have microchip scanner to hand to take their temperatures for you. Could be interesting tho!!
