Do all mares wax and/or drip milk right before they foal, or does it just depend on the mare?

Maybelline didn't, but her milk turned from clear the night before to creamy yellowy on Thursday morning to thick white on Thursday night before she foaled on Friday morning.
Hope that helps and hope your foal comes soon!

Nope! Some don't even get a full bag prior to foaling.

Hi Everyone,
I don't think my mare wants me to know at all, that she's about to have a foal! Her due date is the 23rd and she just started baggging up a bit Sunday morning no wax no dripping we are on full alert! some idema on her under belly but that's all! Tail still has some resistance. (able to swat flies!)

I have a question do all mares get lumpy??? I never notice her ever doing that with any of her other babies??
She did deliever at 4:00-5:00 am- with the others ?? My luck she will hold back until I leave! Hee Hee Spring doesn't know I purchase camera's!!!!! So she can't fool me!

Ps-Watch her fool me!

Emily & Laurie, It isn't unusual to see "lumps" of edema appear and disappear. One of my mares began developing lumps or knots of edema all along the underneath and lower sides of her belly about a week before she foaled. They were never larger than about 4inches and sometimes disappeared the same day they first appeared. So far, my other mare who is due May 6th hasn't started this yet.

Laurie, I posted the laughter guy as a result of your comments about the cameras and Spring not being able to fool you. Some of the posts about cameras have been really funny. I wasn't poking fun at the "lumpy," sides. I haven't seen that before, but if you say she is :lumpy,:"then by Jeb, she's lumpy. Just wanted to clear that up.

I think all mares are tuned into each other through the Universal Mare in the Sky and they network to keep us humans quessing and pawing and snorting and...Oh. Did I type that?

Laurie, I hope she figures out that you are determined to be there for the foaling and just gives up! I think my mare will too. How long can they hold those babies inside anyway? I guess the answer to that is 370 days!!! LOL

Hummm. Might be a little tricky. Perhaps you should have one of Johnathan and Tim's little, "talks." Or tell her you're cutting out carrots for a year if she foials ya! LOL
