Hello again. My mare is due in eight weeks and her bag is beginning to fill. She won't let me fuss with it too much, so I'm going slow-getting her used to it. That's how I found out it was getting full.
Also, her belly dropped a lot. I can see a definite sway to it, like a hammock. No discharge. She is eating. I felt the baby move last night, by putting my hand on my mare's underbelly.
Is she getting ready for a premature delivery? She has had several foals.
I know I saw some posts about this somewhere, but can't find them now.
Most of my mares especially maiden mares start bagging 6 weeks before their due date. If your mares are on spring grass that can also make a bag feel like its bagging up when its mostly just lush spring grass
Thanks Kay. I'm feeling better now. She has no other signs of labor.
