Any ideas on getting a foal to start drinking from a bucket?? She has had colustrum but now mare is not producing milk. Tried oxytocin. Didn't work

How much oxytocin did you give. Sometimes small dosages over a period of time works better. As far as bucket feeding a foal, try to get the foal sucking on your fingers and then lead them into the bucket. Be persistent, sometimes it takes many times for them to get the idea. Good luck.

Sometimes they don't come into milk, no matter what you give them. Get a Nursemare if you can. Thats the best way to raise foal. The bucket will work, but there are other factors to consider. The foal will need a companion, another foal if possable. You will need to monator the foal. Feed a good Milk replacer, Buckeye,Blue seal, landolakes. No foalac. They hate the taste. We feed twice a day. Give a good foal sarter and some good quality hay. A little Alphi won't hurt too. Good luck
