Keep your fingers crossed for this filly - she needs it. This was one of the mares that had been diagnosed with placentitis (not my own). The filly is alive and has a good suck reflex, however she is unable to stand (too weak). She was born at 3am with the mare standing. I know she is far from being out of the woods but it gives me hope for Jane. Send happy thoughts to the very little filly  |

a hopeful thought.....
....two years ago our neighbors mare foaled at 280. the neighbor is a vet and owns a small animal clinic in town here. against all odds and with a team of 24hr volunteers the little colt survived. i went to see him about two weeks after his untimely birth....i can not under emphasize the amount of effort and resources it took, but he made it...and that's one for the record books.

Sadly the adorable little filly died  She was just 24hrs old. She was very likely septic. The mare is handling it well, poor girl I jinxed it by posting too soon. |

So sorry to here another baby was lost, all these little ones, it is so sad. It just makes me worry about my maiden that much more. How is the mom taking it? Hope she will be okay. |

Poor little girl. They have so much going against them when they are born too early. Give the mare some extra attention. They really do mourn for their lost little ones. |
