What does everyone have in their emergency foaling kit? We are looking to put together one for 2007 since having a really bad 2006 foaling year.

Just wanted to know what everyone recommends to have and where you get it from? So you get things such a a foal resuscitator?

LOTS OF TOWELS
Vets Phone number. (although I would prefer the vet lol)
Lots of snack food. (my personal favorite)
I like to have a bucket with lid to put the placenta in after she passes it for later inspection.
Blow Dryer to help dry foal in in winter time.
Iodine for navle stump.
Box of gloves.
Foal enema
Wormer (we worm the mare as soon as foal is born)
Thermometor
Scissors
Pen and paper to right down any information the vet might need to know, like time water broke, time foal delivered, time placenta passed, ect.

I know there are other stuff we put in ours but those are the most important I can think of for now. Someone might think of something I forgot to mention or something I might decided to add to my kit.

VetWrap or Co-Flex bandages
Hemostats
Banadage scissors
Chlorhexidine & disposable dispensers
KY jelly
OB sleeves
String or twine

I love the lidded bucket idea, the black plastic bag gets pretty messy!

And I am so sorry you had a bad foaling year.

The only things I have to add are a cell phone and a copy of Blessed are the Broodmares left open to the chapter on dystocia.
I would like to get a foal resuscitator, and had planned on buying one for this past year, but finances did not permit. Thank goodness we didn't need it, but another few minutes and we might have. I think it's an excellent thing to have on hand.
