My mare is 312 days today, can't wait it is my first baby with her.It will be her 3rd. She started making a bag 3wks ago and its getting bigger every day. 22 days until her due date. She is eating like a pig. Anyone else waiting for a baby this year? |

Add me to the list. I have a mare that came onto the farm on Dec. 1st, saw the stallion and said "Mine!" Apparently she hadn't read the book about seasonal anestrous, and she must be part rabbit (induced ovulation). She is only at day 296 and is huge! Started to bag up this weekend. 340 days isn't until NOV 8TH! |

We're in Maryland, so semi-mild. I am hoping it will at least be dry. But I agree; what was she thinking?!! |

hi everyone. i am new to the site. my mare is due any day now. she shows no signs of her milk bag filling. she quiet eating then began to stand in one place as she began rotating from one foot to the other, as i watched her i notice her muscles from her stomach to her tail began to tighten and relax. she started a chewing motion with her mouth and shaking her head, not to hard just softley, a couple times she has rubbed her head on her front legs and would then look back at her belly. she for the most part keep her neck and head level with her back, or lower. any info would be great. Thanx |

Bobbie Jo, those sound like "typical" signs of discomfort to me. The baby might be moving into the foaling position. If I were you I'd keep a close eye on her, and keep checking her udders. Is she a maiden? Cuz if so she may not get milk until right before the birth (or even during!). Do you have any pictures you can post? |
