Hello,
We got this mare in 2003 and she has had 2 foals for us. We had to try a few times to get her in foal for a 2005 foal. Last year we tried 1 time without any vet help, and then the next time with help from the vet. Still no foal. And this spring we have tried 2 times. Still nothing. This time our vet gave our mare a shot of SETTLE and we are crossing our fingers for it to work. Has anyone else on here had it work for them?
And if this does not work I am not sure where to go from here. Our vet also suggested Embryo Transfer. But we are not ready for that yet. Does anyone have any tips or anything that has helped get a "dirty" mare into foal?

My vet recently used Settle on my mare. That along with a 5 day lavage+antibiotic with oxytocin injections. She has just come back with a clean culture.

What has your mare's culture results been?

I was getting ready to say I would be darned if I would invest in Settle without a culture. Settle is only effective with a beta strep infection. Your mare may very well have another problem. My problem mares get a post breeding lavage and sutured 6 hours post breeding and lots of oxytocin. Followed by an ultrasound at 5 days post ovulation and then oxytocin.

Followed by an ultrasound at 5 days post ovulation and then oxytocin.

Use of oxytocin 5 days post-ovulation would be very much contra-indicated and lead to pregnancy loss. Is this a typo?
