After several years and a lot of money, we finally got our buckskin quarter mare to foal about two weeks ago. She was never any trouble to get pregnant; she just kept an infection and aborted at 4-5 months. We flushed and cleaned and treated with antibiotics etc. Finally, last spring I saw a post on this bulletin board about a new drug that is used in conjuction with the flushing drugs. It causes the mare's immune system to go into hyperdrive and kill any bacteria the flushing misses. The problem is I can't remember the name of the drug and a friend of mine wants to know. It seems like the name of it started with an "a" but I could be wrong. Anyone out there familiar with it, who could provide me with the name? I know it was a blessing for us and I'd like to be able to share it with my friend.
Jos, Thanks, that was indeed it. I remember the website. I don't know it's success rate for others but it certainly worked for us when everything else we had tried failed.
