I have a 13-year-old mare who's had several foals in the past, but was left open last year. She didn't get in foal on our first attempt this year. My vet ultrasounded her yesterday afternoon, and found she was at a 55 (cycled much faster than last time.) We bred her today (AI,) but had missed the ovulation. Could have been within anywhere from 12-24 hours. What are the chances of a pregnancy? Thanks for any input, Rachel
The chances of establishing pregnancy, or experiencing early embryonic death increase significantly from about 12 hours post-ovulation, so you will need some luck to go with the semen.
