I'm Very proud of My Zippo Pine Bar Mare. Much more proud than I am of my Breeding Stallion. So I waited until late December to put them together for the winter. She bred anyway. (the slut) About 5 days later (today) I gave her a shot of prostergla...Uh ..you know the stuff. so she would clean herself out. OK Now what.
1 Is she really going to go back in heat in 3 to 5 days?
2 If she is no longer cycling due to the time of year, and thus does not heat again will she still abort OK?
3 How common is it for mares to cycle all year long?
4 I bought another mare yesterday. She walked by the Stallion and urinated all over the place.
Is She in heat also?
I live in Kansas that seems far enough north.
Thanks Jos You know you are the horse God.

sometimes the prostaglandin is given too soon. It needs to be 6 days after ovulation. have her checked. if she is pg, give her another shot BEFORE day 30.

My mare cycles all year round as well. She is 10 years old and has never been bred.
