I have read about and talked to breeders who are using isoxuprine to increase blood flow to the uterus. I have been unable to find any scientific data to indicate that this is effective. One breeder I spoke to has been using isoxuprine for 4 years and claims her success rate with problem mares has improved. Does anyone know of a published study or perhaps an ongoing study at a major equine reproduction college?

Equine breeders and vets are becoming too medicine happy and are causing more problems by giving medications or hormones that can really do havoc on a mare's system. Sometimes patience and careful attention does a lot more good than those shortcuts, that cause more problems!

I have used MSM successfully with my broodmare with my vet's approval. It can have the same effect of increasing blood flow.
