My mare who is due approx. May 25 started bagging up about 3 weeks ago. Udder almost fully distended, but the teats never filled. Now the udder is going down. I had thought that it was just because of her being outside and getting exercise but then I read that if a twin dies off that can produce lactation. She has had two other foals for me by different stallions. Textbook pregnancies. She was never ultrasounded, always takes first heat cycle bred. No known twins in either line of current breeding. Am I just being paranoid??? Should I have her ultrasounded at this late stage of the game? Thank you!
no harm in making sure there isn't a dead foal in your mare
