Well, I hate to say it, but they can show false positive (sadly I know this from experience). The way my vet explained it, if your mare is pregnant on day 45, and loses the foal on day 46, the endometrial cups which produce eCG (the equine equivalent of HCG) are already formed, and will last for a while after the resorption. Due to this, the pregnamare test will show positive for some time after, even up to day 200! If you think you have lost the foal, save yourself the money and just call the vet. If this is stricly for peace of mind, no signs of resorption, by all means give her the test (just be prepared to whack her in the nose with a lancet!) Good luck!

Thanks. I had heard a lot about false readings with these kits so I went ahead and had the vet palpate her. She is definitely in foal ~120 days.
