I have a 18 year old QH mare who foaled March 28th. We puchaced her from Texas and brought her up here just north of Seattle. She has had a foal every year for the last 4 years and has had a total of 7 foals in her life. My problem is that since she has foaled she has not cycled at all. Our vet has checked her regularly with ultrasound searching for any activity. But to date she has not been in heat or a folicle bigger that a 25.
There is no CL so prostaglandan is not an option. Does anyone have any ideas to assist mares in getting a bit of a jumpstart? I find it odd that a mare still relatively young with a foal at side can shut down. Granted she is a very heavy milker and our weather has been at best up and down but just checking
It can happen. What about trying her on 10 days of Regumate and then seeing if she comes in? What does her uterus look like?
