I have a 2 year old Gypsy Vanner stallion, that I know has gotten 1 mare covered and in foal while being pasture bred. He is with 5 mares, all a bit bigger than him, but none mean or offensive toward him. I know the mares are cycling as we are watching for signs. He however really does not seem interested in them at all. Any thoughts? Should we separate him from them and just bring him to them for cover, or ????? Any help would be great!
Quite frankly I think 2 years is too young, which could also be the reason he isn't all that interested. Not good for immature joints etc and it has been known that breeding colts too early may lead to fertility problems later. Faye
