Hi, I am in the market for a second stallion. I have a few concerns about bringing another stallion to my barn. My current stallion is a very good boy, he wasn't when I got him , but with some work he has become quite delightful. He has lived at other barns with other stallions before I got him, but since I have owned him he has been the only "man" on the property. He is very well socialized with the geldings, they live all around him 24/7 and he is fine. The only time I have had him around other stallions since I've owned him was when we took him to be collected. He didn't even seem to notice the other stallions throughout the whole 4 hours or so we were there. My fear is that when I introduce a new stallion at homeis that he may become very aggressive and maybe even become an ass around the mares to try to make them "his". Part of me thinks I am just being way to paranoid. They would be turned out several paddocks away from each other and could either be stabled next to each other or in a different area of the barn. Would it be a bad idea to stable them next to each other of would it make them put up with the others presence? Also if I lead one stallion past the other in the barn do you think they may attack each other? Maybe I am being paranoid (I have a tenancy to be paranoid) Both horses are very well mannered and have been around other stallions before

Your fear is well documented and could occur. How big is your property?
