Hi, I recently purchased this stallion 5months ago. I plan on breeding him to a select number of mares this spring. I have handled stallions before , this is my first time owning a stud. He just came home last week from the boarding facility where he was at for 3 months, They werent taking care of him at all so I took him home. Yesterday I went out to feed him in the morning and was sitting in his stall. I just happened to glance in that direction and noticed his testes had shrunk more than half their normal size! I dont know what to do, is this normal? should I call the vet? HELP PLEASE! }
If his nutrition was cut way down, or if its cold they will shrink some..I would at least call your vet to speak to him/her about it though. You dont want to take chances with him.
They do shrink in the cooler weather but also if you have him on joint supplements. We purchased a stallion with knee issues and never looked at his testes since we were mainly concerned with his knee. A few weeks later, I had honestly thought I had gotten a gelding...you could not see them anywhere! We took him off of Fluid Action and they reappeared in about 2 weeks.
I would call the vet just for an expert opinion though.
