I have some Next Generation Semen Extender and it says to allow Extender to stay at room temp. Collect stallion then with semen at room temperature mix into the extender the proper ratios.
My question is how do you allow semen to get at room temp without loosing the quality?

I have always warmed the extender water to be the same or close as the semen when collected then mix the ratios.

Thanks for any help.

I believe you will find the intent is to have the extender in the incubator and extend the just-collected semen with the body temperature extender and then leave both the extender and the extended semen at room temperature until you have completed your sperm counts and calculations to determine what the final extension ratio needs to be, at which point add the remaining required portion of the extender to the semen. That way the semen is on a gradually declining temperature plane, rather than putting it into and taking it out of the incubator repeatedly, which causes temperature fluctuations.
