Is it necessary for a stallion to penetrate through the mares cervix at breeding in order for the breeding to be successful? I'm asking because I'm breeding a small miniature stallion to a mare who is some inches taller. He's pretty much standing verticle but is completing the breeding. I've heard my vet say that the stallion needs to penetrate the mares' cervix and I'm not sure this stallion is able to do that. |

While not absolutely essential, the pregnancy rates will be better if full cervical/uterine penetration is achieved. |

Becky, i have a hole in my barn to pull the mare into. I then back her up to the edge, and let my little guy mount. It's the only way he can reach any of them! |
