10-YO show horse, explosvie behavior. Thorough exam found a testicle, high flank. Vet argues that it must be a third...as he took off "two"... The sire is "crypt"...so before I confront with the $3,500+ vet/surgery bills (to REMOVE). Just need an affirmative...'NO WAY" !!
I sold a colt to a friend, the vet gelded him at my place at about 8 months of age. The vet, owner, myself & another friend all saw 2 testes removed.
Strangely, the "gelding" is very quiet, but at times behaves like a stallion when he sees another horse. This is not consistent though & we just put it down to his personality. Eventually, my friend has him blood tested, results came back, testosterone the same level as a stallion.
Different vet this time, finds another testicle & removes it. Horse now behaves like a gelding.
Wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen the first gelding op myself.
