I recently acquired a 13 year old mini stallion. I am using him as a teaser stallion for my two mares which is working nicely. He is in his own paddock within their pasture. I guess this is an obvious question, but I have no stallion experience. Is it possible to run the little guy with the full size mares without the risk of him getting hurt. I would assume they would try to kill him if they are not in heat or pregnant. He has evidently run with full size mares before ....but it seems to risky. He is way to small to breed them so that's not a concern.
Tammy, actually full size mares have laid down for a mini to breed them. If you don't want them pregnant, don't put any size stallion in with them
