WHOA! I just read out on Bloodhorse that they have pensioned Storm Cat!

I had seen a couple of weeks ago where they were having fertility problems with him but apparently now they are verifying that he has settled only three of 32 mares this year.

He is 25 so I guess its not entirely unexpected.

I bet if any of those three mares sell this fall, they will bring a pretty penny. This will most likely drive up the prices of his yearlings and two-year-olds too.

He is a great stallion!

Oh no! Poor Storm Cat! Although he has sooooo many fabulous foals, his bloodlines will continue.

I agree, at age 25, doing LC, with as many mares as he has bred, his swimmers have got to be taking a hit :-(

Catherine: One of my best friends has raised babies out of Storm Cat for the past three years. She is still currently racing one of his now three year-olds. I'm not sure how the two year-old that is a full brother is doing. Her mare is a bay...all the foals she has had out of him are now grays. It just blows my mind because they were born chestnuts and the color change in 2-3 years was amazing!
