I breed pony hunters, I have a 2 yr old Welsh TB cross " BUZZY ". I collected him for the first time about 2 weeks ago.
http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa170/hacooke/buzzy1.jpg

I also have a yearling I hope to start collecting next summer. He is welsh X tb, his barn named is Sparky.
http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa170/hacooke/SPARKIEFRONT1.jpg
http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa170/hacooke/SPARKIELEFT.jpg
I'll keep them stallions until they are 4 -5 yrs old then they will be gelded and sold as show ponies. If their foals are nice I'll have their semen frozen.

Angela, I use to go up to the Michigan pinto shows a few years ago, haven't been showing out of state much due to the fuel prices, we recently have only been showing in Indiana and go to Tulsa for Pinto Worlds.

Ok, I am so excited about some pictures that were taken of my stallion. Go to www.lizstabbertphoto.com, click on proofs then click on equine portraits. Mine is under Tracy Smith and Reggie. I'd be interested on what you guys think are the best pics, I get to choose a couple 8x10's for free.

Thanks Tracy. I know what you mean about picking proofs. I have about 20 to choose from and I want them ALL LOL. Anyway, Im hoping he will get some interest this year and also some more APHA points up here in Canada and into the northern states like Syracuse etc.

I guess time will tell. In the meantime all the stallion fees are killing me.. ughh....

Tracy - I went back and found your link to Reggies pics. What did you decide on? I like the halterless pics best. but hes a very pretty boy. I need to get pictures taken of my stallion but he is the most UNphotogenic horse I've ever seen. He really is very sweet but from the time I get him set up to the time the camera actually takes the pic he usually does something to look like an idiot.

Jenni, I can't remember the numbers now but I think it was #21 (where he's standing and looking at me)and maybe #31 (a trotting pic) I actually haven't received the pics yet and just rattled the lady's cage that took them yesterday. Those are free ones that I'm getting and then I'm ordering about 15 more I couldn't make up my mind! As you saw from the pic I took by myself he does what you're talking about, ears back goofy look on his face. He's too freaking friendly and won't leave me alone. Those other pics that I had done I had to run my butt off chasing him around his field so Liz (the photographer) could get something! Oh well, it seemed to have worked :-)

Tracy I liked those pics as well. My husband and I are going to try and get some pics of our Old Man ourselves. I'll probably wait till I get my digital camera because the delay on my phone gives him way to much time to move and i hate waiting on 35mm you think you got something to find out ya missed it. I thought i had this one perfect pic of him he ended up looking like a toothpick and the other one he had his ears back and teeth bared by the time it took (he was chasing a very agrivating horse fly).

His name is ima litttle rusty

He is coming 3 ohh ohhh its the first isnt it... well hes officially 3 ( ok not tell april ) :-)

i pulled this off one of the pictres, i had wrote this earlyer....

I think this would be a good picture to talk about rustys condition in. He was born or came down with sepic arthritis. Still not extreamly sure what the cause was. I surmise it was the ambillicord... This condition is a bacteria in fection in the bood. The bacteria settles in a joint area and distroys the cartlage. The infected area is cut and cleaned. IT IS NOT GENITIC. Most of time its poor mainteness. Anyway Ive had him sence Dec. 06. and he has grown allmost doubled his size. I chose this picture to discribe it becuase you can see the diffence in this joints. His two back legs are slighlty smaller all around, not shorter just smaller. This is due to his problems. He doenst show any signs of it anymore. I have him one glucosamine and rehab. Hes doing great. Breed two mare this summer ! Runs and prances and evern thows a kick or two at a fly. He is dog gentle. Even lets me sit on him while hes laying down snozzing. He has been ground trainded and driven but my two year old son is the only weight he has had on him. Gives hugs and kisses. I have taught him to back off a mare with the sound of my voice !! So smart and wants to please. I am plan on riding him this spring.

Just thought I'd put a pick of our stallion up too. His name is Holland Hollywood, out of Alapass and by Holland Ease. He is a 4yr QH race bred and has been on the track. He hasn't bred any mares yet but we are thinking of breeding him to some mares this year.

Beautiful boy Paul! I just got home from dropping my stallion off at the trainers for at least 60 days. I think I'm having more anxiety than he is about leaving him behind! I'm already missing him :-(

Paul - How tall is your stallion? I have a paint stallion that is Easy Jet bred top & bottom but I think he's awful short for that line he's only 14.3 hands. I'm wondering if he wasnt stunted as a colt I know he was abused. The vet measured his leg and said according to that he should be 15.2, but when he actually measured him he was only 14.3

Sorry it's taken me so long to get back with ya's, I've been busy getting my open mares cultured and getting ready to take a gelding to the Heritage sale next week.

Charlene, has your mare ever been on the track? Looks like she has some good blood in her.

Tracey, thanks for the compliment on our stud. How's yours doing at the trainers? Have you heard how he is doing?

Jenni, I measured him the other day and he is 15.1. When he is in his stall he looks so much shorter!

Hi Paul, I talked to my trainer a few days ago and she gave him a couple of days to settle in and then lunged him for the first time (first time for her, he is broke just getting finished) She said he was very good and a great mover and she really liked him, so that makes me happy :-) I'm probably going to visit him tomorrow or Saturday. Thanks for asking! :-)

Hi Paul. No she has never been on the track. I suppose she could have been good considering her lines and given the chance, but she has always been pretty happy going slow. I guess that is because of the Doc Bar and Poco Bueno lines in her. You can check out her pedigree if you want at allbreedpedigree.com. Her registered name is, ( and keep in mind I did not name her) Tulips Ta Kiss Ya. I've had her since she was a yearling.

Please Tell her I said hello. The Gypsy Horse Breed is growing by leaps and bounds and there are many more opportunities now to show them and such. Unfortunately, right now with the election and the economy, sales are a bit slow. Prices are starting to level out which we knew would happen. All in all, things are going well.

The Welsh has had some pretty cute foals with his previous owner's mares, so I am thrilled to see what he produces for me.

And the Selle Francais is one I knew from the moment he was born and purchased him at 4 months old. I really do hope he turns into something.

Very pretty Kathy!

Lilly is doing good--she is a big girl and very dirty right now--Very nice temperment--but she even picks on the Pinto mare. Can't wait til its warm enough to bathe her. Not good pics of her but I had to get some that showed she is now bigger than our Pinto mare

We own 2 stallions. Our oldest is a 2000 AQHA/NFQHA Dun stallion with Poco Bueno, Easter King bloodlines. He has tested Homozygous for the Black gene, Homozygous for the Dun gene, and Herda N/N. He stands 15h, no white and is producing excellent quality dun foals.

Second is our up and coming APHA Black Tobiano grandson of QT Poco Streke. He is Homozygous for black and tobiano genes. He is just 21 months old right now and currently stands 14.2h. Expected to reach 15.2-15.3h.

You can see both of them on our webpage at:

He's doing great! He had a problem for a little while with steering (only to the right!)but seems to have finally figured it out. Going to the left he is wonderful: walk, trot, canter all nice and collected. I'm bringing him home June 1st as it's very expensive having him in training plus I want to breed him to Tali. I'll probably start taking some riding lessons on him to keep him going and brush up on my skills at the same time :-)

Jan
I'm breeding 2 mares of my own and have 2 already booked to him. I have not advertised him, he has kind of been a slow developer, he's just turned 2. He was not that interested in the opposite sex until I seperated him from his pasture buddy who is a colt (soon to be gelding) that was head honcho. I did not want to isolate him but his libedo has really improved since he has been by himself.

Tracy your boy is lovely, I have a couple of welsh X arabs that I'm breeding to my welsh x tb stallion for pony hunters. How tall is your boy? What is his breeding?

Heather, he's only 14.2 :-) He's mainly Khemosabi, Bay El Bay bred. Sire is MCA Kheno who is a Regional champion in 3rd level dressage.

Tracy, I have 2 welsh arabs that are out of a Khemosabi bred mare, I think her sire is by Khemosabi. I love the older type arabs. Where are you located? 14.2 is the perfect size to cross with welsh and welsh cross mares.

Tracy,
I absolutely LOVE your stallion. He is gorgeous. I was a big fan of the old horse Khemosabi.
I have Quarter Horses now but from time to time think about a Half Arab. Do you ever breed QH mares with him?

This is Blondie (almost 2yrs old), she is out of an bay arab mare, by a cremello section A Welsh stallion.

I can't find a picture of Trixie who is welsh x arab but this is a picture of her filly Sneakie who is by a Welsh X TB. So Sneakie is 25% Arab - 25% TB - 50% Welsh.

I have a yearling colt that is Welsh x Arab that seems to be growing up quite nice, wish he was a filly.

I like crossing welsh-arabs with welsh-tbs for pony hunters which is basically what a British Riding Pony is and alot of the German Riding Ponies are.

Catherine, thank you very much! I love him but then again I'm very biased! I actually have never bred him, I will for the first time this spring to my Arabian mare Tali. I'm not against breeding him to a nice QH mare at all, there are some good Quarabs out there that's for sure! :-) I will be somewhat picky on what I breed him to because the horse market is not very good right now and obviously what you breed to reflects on your stallion so when I do stand him it will be to approved mares only BUT I won't be breed biased. :-)

Heather, I love those crosses! Gorgeous foals! I've always liked the Welsh/Arab cross.

Heather, thanks for posting the pictures!

They are all so lovely! And their heads are so typey and refined, I love them! I have my Arab mare in foal to my Welsh stallion for a February '09 baby. I am hoping for a black filly! But would be pleased as long as its healthy :]

My Trakehner mare was bred to my Welsh last week (hoping she took, we bred her 4 times to a different stallion, and couldnt catch her last year, but we think that she was allergic to the semen extender, which wasnt used this time), I have really liked all the Welsh X Sporthorse, Arab, or TB crosses I have seen :]

I have a 2005 AQHA appendix Stallion, "Time for Scotch" by Do You Have a Minute out of Sucha Fine Time by Scoth Bar Time. He has not been bred yet and has NO clue that he is a boy. He goes out with all of my geldings, doesn't need a chain even at the shows, has been to 3 shows and is getting to show 2'6 this weekend. He has only been back under saddle since getting started as a 2 year old since August and is just great!

I just had to update everyone on how Frodo has been doing. For those that don't remember him, he's a Section A that turned four at the beginning of the year. We've been having a terrible time with him dropping at shows. While he's still dropping, he's getting a lot more exposure and we're hoping just repitition of showing and not getting nooky will help his situation.
He's gone to two shows since he's been in training and has got some Supremes and championships under his belt!
This last show he did superb and was driving, english pleasure, western pleasure, and trail. He's showing just how versatile he is! We're really proud of him.
We're expecting his first foal any day now!
I've got updated pictures:

Do future stallions count? I had two very good colts last year that are half brothers...long story short....I ended up repossessing both and have now made an arrangement for half interest with more trustworthy clients.

The gray has incredible movement and the bay has fantastic conformation...both are very nice generally speaking so come 2011 they can be bred....they are unrelated to all my mares except one....

It is good to have a high quality stallion available at no cost...it really helps the bottom line

Bummer..but it is great that you still have access to them. Both beautiful boys. How about Encantador? He is stunning too....he carries the chestnut gene right? Perhaps you can hook him up and get a chestnut? :-) At what age do you brand the babies?

I brand in the fall after all the foals are weaned and the flies are gone. My vet does it with a little tranquilizer and the foals don't seem to mind. I am very happy to be a part of these two colts "growing up" and I can hardly wait to take one or both to the show ring,,,,they will be WOW,,,

Encantador is gone but as unlikely as it seems, I now have bred Aguileno who has the same genetic code eeAa....what luck!!

I'm 4 months pregnant myself so I haven't been riding him. He's still too green to take any chances so unfortunately his training is on hold. My husband might jump on him some this summer just to keep him somewhat going. His leg seems fine though!

He is amazing under saddle, and has a wonderful temperament. =]

Once of the best things about him is that he doesn't act study. I pony mares off him, and he is great even around mares in heat.
