Long AV's are not necessary, as one actually wants to avoid the stallion ejaculating in the heated lumen of the AV, which could cause sperm shock. You should therefore go with a shorter length.

We actually prefer not to use the Missouri for ground collection, as we find the stability afforded by IMV's INRA "French" AV makes the job a lot easier than the "soft" Missouri which lacks stability. That is of course a matter of personal preference, but we do do a lot of collections - ground and otherwise - from a variety of stallions each year... :-)

Ok so I have seen the price of the french AV and like its design. Its also cheaper than the missouri AV. Here is the next question what else should I get with it they gave me a list of stuff but some of it I have or dont need. Im looking to ship so I know the container is a needed item. I have a microscope with slides and pipetts im looking into getting a used incubator as we speek so what should i get from them once I buy the AV?

Please check out the article in the article section about Setting Up For Semen Collection and Transport. It should help, and there are some other articles there that touch on the topic as well.
