As I have had some wonderful answers regarding my little colt I wonder what peoples opinions on this would be. It has been advised to me to put my little 11.2 colt in with my 16.2 27 year old mare to teach him some manners. Just wondering if any of you have had any experience of little boys getting big girls pregnant! Is it improbable given her size and age or is it a case of where there is a will there is a way?? |

where there is a will there CAN be a way!! I have seen small studs lure the mare to a nearby hill or slope...enought to get the job done!! (we had a 48 inch tall welsch that would do this to a 14.2 mare...) I have also heard of mares dropping their hind ends for breeding... I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong...but I would say be careful... where theres a will theres a way...and unless you dont mind your 27 yr old mare bred...you may want to put him in with bossy gelding... |

I heard a story about a Tennesee Walker mare and I believe a miniature donkey. Actually I think there was more the one mare. Anyway they had mule babies the next year!! |

I have seen it! A guy that my mom used to work for bred Belgian mares to a mammoth jack to get Belgian mules. All of his mares were over 17 hands. He used to let a tiny stud pony run with the mares to let him know when they were coming into heat. One day we were just hanging around, when one mares purposly laid down for the little stallion!! Luckly she didn't take and he got "Hotrod" out of there fast! LOL From then on he would tease the mares with the pony. But not turn him out with them LOL. So yes, if there is a will, there is a way! |
