Hello everyone,

We have a 1997 stallion and we have owned him since 2003.

Anyways, it was about 2 weeks ago that we had a mare bred by him and I noticed when he was getting down, that he had a knot on his one testicle. But it went away, or I could not see it, after a few minutes, so I didnt think to much about it. We brought the mare in the next night and he refussed to breed her, and that is definatly not like him. And this mare was definatly in heat, and she has never kicked at him, so he has no reason to be afraid of her.
That night I looked again and that knot was visiable and this time it didnt go away. So I kept checking on it everyday, and a few days agoI noticed that there is another knot on the other testicle too. The first one that I found is now about golf ball sized, and the second one is just a little smaller.

I have never seen this before in a stallion, and thought that someone might have a sugestion.

here is the link to see the picture of it that I took:

The vet has an appointment to come out sometime this week depending on my mares heat, so I am planning on haveing her look at him too.

Thank you

It's a little difficult to tell from the photo, but I suspect it's just the cauda epididymis, which is perfectly normal. Your vet will hopefully be able to identify it though - do let us know!
