(other than the obvious of him settling a mare). My three year old stallion has yet to settle a mare that I am aware of. One mare that is here to be bred is in heat and showing heat continuously, and the other just came back into heat after 30 days from the first day of her last cycle. I am wondering about the mares, but also about him as I have a fertility guarantee on him and his third birthday is looming near. How do I go about getting him tested... is it something my local vet can do...or? Suggestions, please! Thanks in advance
Your local large animal Vet or Breeding Farm can do a semen analysis test on him, They will collect semem from him, then run various test to determine the viability, motility, fertility, and the quantity of his semen. As for the mares, a check-up and vaginal culture for infections would probably be a good idea, before breeding them. This is a great site, and I think it's what you are looking for!
