I've been searching and can't seem to find the answer. Can 15h stud breed 16h mare w/o special hill or ramp? The stallion is experienced, agile and very nice to the mares, but I don't want to put him in a bad situation.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Probably, but I would make extra sure that the mare was ready. He's going to be on his tip toes so if she decides to dance around, he'll have trouble staying balanced. If she is really ready she'll probably drop her hips so there will be less of a height difference anyway. A hillside would be better just in case, but you can probably get it done. |

yes he can. If he has a problem placing her in a low spot or him on a small hill should help. I had a two year old I allowed to run with the mares cuz he was to small to do anything. I was wrong. He was about 13h and my mares were all fifteen plus hands, but he got the job done with two all on his own(I pulled him when I caught him at). |

We regularly breed our 12.3 HH stallion to 15+ HH mares so you should have no problem. As others have said, depending on the stallion conformation and mare conformation, you may just want to place the mare in a low spot if it looks like the stallion is struggling a bit. |

My 16+ Percheron/Morgan mare was accidentally bred by a yearling paint stud (before I bought her) her old owners didn't know she was bred--they had no idea that a yearling could breed. This yearling could not have been but maybe 13 hands--he must have found a hill but he got the job done cause she is due anytime and they owned her for 5 years and he was the only stud they owned(or she had been around) in the entire time they had her |
