HI, i am looking at buying a two year old miniature colt to show and breed with. I have a couple of mares at the moment, and i would like them in foal when i get him, and just concerntrate on showing him. How old will he have to be before i can breed him, or before he will be fertile???

Well he's probably fertile now. Many colts are fertile by the time they are 2. Many breeders breed stud colts at 2. They probably aren't as fertile at 2 as they will be later in their lives. I like to get a good show record on a colt before I try to breed them. But to each his or her own.

I have a miniature stallion who last year as a 3 year old was his first time breeding. He successfully got all of the mares he bred in foal, and I was also showing him right after he was finished with the breeding season. It did not seem to alter his showing in anyway. As a matter of fact he took Reserve Grand Champion Stallion in an AMHR show!!
