I am starting to look for a stallion station for my stud to go to during the breeding season in future. I am not sure what to look for, or what services a stallion station would provide. I tried looking on the internet and didnt find anything in Eastern Canada. ANyone know where there might be one located and what the typical fees are?
There is Transbio (about 45min East of Montreal (Quebec). I had my mares send overthere for Frozen and/or fresh semen insemination and she do have a stallion station, (race horses, QH, aas well as Warmblood, wich last summer she received stallions from some well known farms of Ontario and Quebec) but its for collecting only... they do turn out if your boy is a good boy but no room to train or things like this. Dont know if this is what you are looking about or not (sorry for my english..)??? You can PM me for contact infos...
Thanks Jessica. I might see what I can find out about that place. I am near Ottawa, so Montreal is about 2 1/2 hours from me. Please send me your email and I will get the details and name of this place to do some checking. You don't list an email under your name.
Most people I know have small horse operations and breed their own stallions to mares that come in. I am looking for a place that specializes in breeding and can do the training for collecting etc as well as fill breeding contracts. There doesnt seem to be any place around here that does that, at least not that I can find. Those that handle their own stallions are not interested in handling or training an outside stallion.
