My mare is about 90 days pg and has become very herdbound to my gelding. When I take him out to ride, she gets upset and will pace, call, trot back and forth etc... until we get back from our ride. Consequenty, I have not been working the gelding so she will not be so upset. I have been taking her with "in tow" to keep her happy. My gelding now is looking pregnant too because of lack of working out. I was wondering if the behavior of the mare will cause her to slip the foal. I have a neighbor who has bred mares successfully and his comment was that "It will get her into shape." Anyone out there who has had a similar experience?
My mare gets anxious whenever my gelding goes out with out her. She paces and hollers. She likes to go along too! She gets ridden herself quite a lot. We rode her just like we always did up till 6 weeks before she delivers. Then we pony her out for excercise. The pacing is self excercise in my book. Never had a problem with a pregnancy for that. jan
